Wow, I am frequently not impressed with the bands music selection and lack of movement. But man, I certainly did not know how little support you guys got. That's terrible.
Well to really put it into perspective. Here is what the University of Minnesota has in store for it's band.http://stadium.gophersports.com/multi_virtual_tours.htmltake a virtual tour of the band room to get an idea how much money these big ten schools really have. I'd say it's better than most MAC school's football practice facilities.

Wow... Maybe we'll get a section close to the field... How do you compete with that? Maybe we could at least get a band shell or something. It would keep us out of the weather and would make us sound three times as big as we do now. What do you think?

keep you out of the weather? That's not what i like to hear from my band. Also, sound three times bigger?! If you sounded three times bigger I would at least be able to hear the band at halftime over the normal talk of fans. I think the biggest thing the band needs is funding, if you guys could get the funding that some of the other programs get, then that could make an impact and maybe weed out the weak links and the bad instruments. Maybe not having to bus you guys to our home games 5-6 times a year will save some money for that.

Let me explain. When I say keep us out of the weather I guess I was thinking it would be like the Rubber Bowl. For bands in the bowl we were at the bowl 6 hours before the game started because we couldn't get a field on campus and had to practice with the High School Bands. It was pouring down rain when we got on the busses, through our 3 1/2 hour rehearsal, during our 1/2 hour lunch break, when we sat in the stands for two hours before the game while the team was on the field warming up and for a portion of the game. I guess we won't have that problem at the new stadium since we won't be stuck 8 miles from campus. As for the complaint on our volume, at least we aren't like Can't who has to mic there band while it's in the stands. Talk about embarassing.

I couldnt stop laughing at that when I was at the Can't game this year. I think my highschool band was as big (if not bigger) and was still louder. My favorite part was the sousaphone players all huddled around this one mic playing into it like a bunch of hobos huddling around a garbage can fire in the middle of January.God I love Can't. Always doing something to make my day that much better.

Wow, that's an impressive band room. Reminds me when the marching band used to practive in Olsen Hall, and practice marching half time shows with concrete pillars every 20 feet. That room is so big in the video, you could march an entire half time show inside...Thanks again, I do think there is an opportunity to have a fund raiser for the band related to the new stadium. There ARE alumni that would donate $$$

Do you know if Jorgenson got any space in the endzone bldg? I know he and GK were really pushing for it.Maybe we should start a "Chief Memorial Fund" that helps fund the band (interest off the capital only type) and pitch it to the alumni band members.
