I just got this via ZipMail about 30 seconds ago:

Note: False Facebook messages have been circulating, informing students that President Proenza has agreed to give students the day off from classes on Friday if 5,000 students attend the game. Although President Proenza would love to see more than 5,000 students at the game, he has confirmed that there is no truth to this rumor -- classes will not be canceled on Friday.

Oh well. Still, if it gets the word out for students to come, it will be worth it.

LMAO, some UB fan (Bull_In_Exile) just took this "rumor" to their board!:lol::lol:
LOL, you sure got me 5,000 is a joke... but ATTENDANCE: 10,134 at your last game is nothing to really brag about is it?
And just what is your home attendance average for mid-week games at 8PM in the middle of November?
11/4 ATTENDANCE: 16,058 (Competing with election night)

quick! somebody start a facebook page!!!
ON ITand DONEHell it may be true, but either way let's get some students to get off their asses and come to a game for once.
Probably the greatest prank ever, even if you weren't sure it was a prank at the time... especially since the total number of confirmed guests is closing in on 1,000 as we speak. You even caught the attention of the higher ups. Ever think of working for the marketing department?

I actually have yes. It's disgusting to me the lack of support this school has for it's athletic teams. You can use every excuse in the book to not come to the Rubber Bowl for the last 68 years but on the last night i don't care if you have to hitchhike or walk, you NEED to be there. It's embarrassing to think that this place is not going to be sold out. Most likely if it weren't for that rumor no more than a few thousand students would have showed up. Maybe somehow that rumor spreading like wildfire will get people to notice that there is a HUGE game going on tomorrow night. I'm actually leaving for the game in a few hours, I'll have internet, maybe ill post some updates on the tailgating situation as the final 24 hours tick down. But let me tell you, when that ball is kicked off tomorrow night, i dont care if there is 10,000 people or 35,000 i'm going to be extra loud and extra crazy for this huge game. I hope all of you join me. AND REMEMBER TO BRING A FRIEND OR FAMILY MEMBER TOMORROW.

I'd like to add that the student attendance at this game was close to 4k

Just to let you know in case it's news to you, the Rubber Bowl is 7 miles from campus and has had trouble historically with student attendance as a result. There will be no such issue next year.

Our lowest student attendance this year = just under 2500, sure some came to the Miami(oh) for TV... who cares, you were on ESPNU so it's kinda a moot point. Somebody asked for our attendance, we posted it  GO BULLSEDIT: I wasn't aware it was that far away... sucks, was there no busses or anything for students?

oh god, let's not get started on the bus situation. Last week they somehow thought that it would be appropriate to use 4 buses to take students to the game and only 2 to bring students home. Many were left for almost an hour after the game. However the bus issue should not be a problem this game. Apparently it has been addressed.

That was horrible. It was like a stampede of bulls trying to squeeze into a small charter bus door.I hope it was adressed, ha.

Well our rumor has hopefully counteracted and maybe even gained new fans from what were lost because of last week's fiasco. If anyone is up for a game of NCAA 09 or College Hoops on XBOX feel free to stop by Brookhartville tonight, packing up as we speak!

Thanks for answering. Am I correct that it was the Bulls' first game on national TV? I heard that somewhere, but I don't know if it was true.
well if their first game on tv only drew 16,000 that's pretty lame.
