akzips10 Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 With the reccent play of Tim Carroll and some strong early minutes from fellow walk-on Eric Coblentz in games like Winthrop, if we put them in and they play well, why aren't we continuing to give them a chance? I understand their status as walk ons but Coblentz had a strong showing shooting in his short time and Carroll is a strong defender and rebounder for his size. If they are getting the job done, dont just stop playing them! Quote
Quickzips Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 For the time being Carrol won't be getting that many minutes do to what looked like a pretty serious hammy injury last night.I wouldn't be surprised to see Coblentz get a few more minutes the next couple of week with Ronnie out. I think the problem there (as it usually is with walk-on's) is depth. This year especially we've had a bit of a logjam in the backcourt. Quote
ZachTheZip Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 You're completely forgetting our best walk-on player. There isn't any other player on the roster that I want with the ball in his hands with the game on the line than Darryl Roberts. He is the definition of clutch. Quote
skip-zip Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 I'm going to guess that Alex Sullivan has been officially redshirted. He was the guard who committed after his junior year, and averaged something like 26 ppg at Riverside HS. I was really looking forward to seeing him play ever since I heard that he made his verbal to Akron about a year and a half ago. I know a lot of people who saw him play in high school, and he was outstanding. He can score, and is a tenacious defender. Maybe having him a year behind all of these other freshmen might be a good thing for us in the long run. Anyone know anything about his status? Quote
zip37 Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 He had a sprained ankle, was out 2 weeks or more. Quote
