johnd9090
I'm taking my first visit to Akron on February 16th. Any great parts of the campus that anyone has to tell me i need to visit or really take a look at?
tbozeglav
Ill be the first to say the Stadium over by the field house... everything else is irrelevent... hahaNo, I'd definitly say check out the Student Union, the REC center and definitely the buildings your major is located at (if you tell us what your intended major is, we can direct you to the right building). If you're into performing arts, go check out E. J. Thomas.

tbozeglav
I intend to major in computer science.Well, I know for a fact that a lot of the CS stuff happens over at the College of Arts and Sciences building right by the Honors Dorms and Simmons Hall (interesection of Buchtel and College).I came here as an intended CS major (i've change to CIS since), but when i visited, I set up an appointment to talk with the head of the Computer Science department to really get a feel for what the university will offer me in terms of the quality of the program/degree. I don't remember who it is, but I HIGHLY recommend you do the same so that you get the full experience of everything you will be involved with as a student here. Sitting down with him and talking about everything in the department and the university is really what sold me on coming here. Not sure what else to suggest... the tour (assuming youre going to be on one of them) should cover a lot of the campus, but its a good idea to roam around afterwards so you get to see what you want. ctmjbowes@sbcglobal.net
Student Union, the Field House and Natatorium, the dorm buildings if you intend to stay on campus, the downtown area (Main/Market/High/Bowery/University), Aeros Stadium on Main, Northside area (Luigi's is THE Akron Italian/Pizza joint) where a new condo/loft building is. The Lock 3 Park downtown has skating and German food and crafts if you're coming with family. Some good restaurants and bars on Main/Exchange as well. If you're a runner/cyclist check out the Towpath Trail on the Internet, as it's not the most pleasant thing to run on the trail when it's 2 degrees outside! I'm sure I'm missing plenty, but those are a few things/places/areas to think about checking out while you're here. Have a nice trip and stay warm!SeeTeeZip
ksu sucks
When I visited UA for the first time, I fell in love with campus after about a few minutes. The one place I saw that totally sold me on UA was the REC center. Make sure to go inside and check it out. It's truly impressive.Edit: I'd also visit sometime in the spring. Campus looks much better in the spring with all of the plants and flowers in bloom.
