I can't seem to make sense of BSU being ranked above akron, and Im not saying that just because I am an akron fan. I guess the only justification here is that they have played more conference games, but even then we're 5 games above .500 whereas BSU is 1 game over. ZachTheZip
I would have Miami and Akron ahead of Ball State. Can't, Ohio, and BG are below them.
Dave in Green
I'd rather see the Zips underrated than overrated. It helps fight complacency and keeps a chip on your shoulder to try to prove the prognosticators wrong. I'm sure that skip-zip will agree with me. skip-zip
Yes sir Dave. Every little bit of motivation helps. Not only am I not understanding Ball State's sudden rise, but I am not understanding the rise of BG either. I know they are inconsistent, and thankfully, we got the "bad" BG when we played them on the road. But I guess when you think about Ball State...someone...anyone...had to eventually emerge from the West as a team that was going to decide to at least be competitive this year. I hate Can't as much as anyone, but they have the talent to make a run if they get their s%#t together soon enough. It seems like when they do this poll, it's a matter of "well, we had to put someone in that spot". I'm still just amazed at how weak the overall strength of this conference has become. The Hip Zip
Whats this guy smoking ? BSU loses a first team MAC performer in Newell and now climbs up the ladder. They are playing some solid defense but in no way are as good as this rating reflects. We'll beat them by 10+.
The Hip Zip
I'm still just amazed at how weak the overall strength of this conference has become. It was not too long ago when we were neck and neck with the MVC and the Horizon was looking up at the MAC. I watch a lot of the Horizon league games and there are 3 or 4 teams over there that would probably be leading the MAC at this point. You are correct, this is as bad as I can recall the MAC being in quite some time.
RootforRoo44
Central Michigan (6-13, 3-4 MAC) Last week: 11 The Chippewas shot the lights out against Ohio, then couldn't buy a basket at Akron. The defense still can't stop any halfway decent offense, so they're going to live and die by their shooting. An encouraging sign, though, is a team that had been fouling a ton went -8 in fouls the previous two games. Ending the free throw parade by opponents would go a long way toward keeping CMU in games.=====================Maybe that's because there were 50+ fouls and Akron had 28 of them or something. What a misleading stat.
