GJGood
What a way to get win #20! Not to put the hex on them for the next game or anything, but is the 20 win mark for Akron enough to have this team continue playing should they not win the MAC tourney? I doubt the NIT would give us a shot but what about the CBI and CIT? Is 20 a magic number of sorts?Congrats Zips on another 20 win season! liljc
I dunno about 20, but 23 will get 'em in for sure!
infofan
My guess is............maybe. 65 teams in NCAA, 36 in NIT. 18 in CBA. CIT invites another 18. Thats 137 teams. Im not sure how many 20 win teams there are and we all know they dont go by RPI so lets just hope.......
Quickzips
The more I think about it. This team really shouldn't have won more than about 12-15 games this season. We start two true freshman with a third playing significant minutes off the bench. We don't have anything resembling a consistent post game. Our three point shooting is suspect on a good night. Our guards are small. We can become turnover prone. We go through scoring stretches that make the artic circle seem warm. We have a tendency to commit stupid fouls.... You can say it is a testament to how bad the MAC is this year, but even with how bad the conference is, we're still the first team to 20 wins in the league. That says something. I can't help but wonder if some of these close loses this year really should have been blowouts for our opponents. I don't know where this whole thing is going to end. It could come crashing down with a blowout tomorow night at the hands of the Redhawks or it could be a Cinderella ending on Saturday night. I just know I'm along for the ride. At least as long as my poor heart can keep pumping. Can't wait to see what this team has in store next.

Actually I believe it is 32 for the NIT and 16 each for the CBI and CIT for a total of 129, but your point is well taken.I do know, though, that the CIT (run by the people who do the mid-major Top 25 poll) has said that they would rather not take teams that already have more than half of their conference in the postseason. I take that to mean they'd rather have a pretty good mid-major team over a 9th, 10th, or 11th place team from a "major" conference when they are making their selections. GoZips88
I'm not a big fan of all of the alphabet soup post-season tourneys BUT our young Zips can use all of the Big-Dance-like experience they can get. It's going to be a lot of fun the next few years with Humpty, Zeke, the McKnights and Company. liljc's got the right idea (win 23 and you're in The Big Dance for sure) but let's hope Akron is playing somewhere after Cleveland. skip-zip
I don't see any chance at the NIT. And that would become a 100% certainty if BG does NOT win the MAC tournament and takes one of those 32 spots.I guess either of the other two tournaments would have to take a look at any 20-win team. But with an SOS up around 200, how much will those 20 wins really mean to them? Hope for the best.
RACER
i would think either the cbi and cit would look at matching up two mac teams for a tourney game.if bg goes to the nit,and somebody else in the mac goes to the big dance.i would think the mac would be able to get to two more teams in one of the tourney's.i know are sos is low,but i really don't think there are 130 teams better than us.especially of we beat miami we should be playing somehwere.
