Seattle Sounders FC scored their second straight shutout victory at Qwest Field last evening in a 2-0 win vs Real Salt Lake. And in the action, rookie Steve Zakuani, MLS #1 draft selection from THE University of Akron set up Nate Jacqua for the team's first goal, receiving his first assist and first point in Major League Soccer. The Sounders are lookin' phat in home play versus last season's playoff finalist and semi-finalists, Red Bulls and Real. I won't be surprised if the MLS cup, already announced to be played at Qwest, ends up being a home field advantage. Can't wait for see the guys in action. Have you seen Freddy Motero? The Cali Cartel. :DAnd on Fox Soccer Channel last night, the Red Bulls gave up a late tieing goal to New England Rev's, but FSC seems to be treating holding mid Sinisa Uviparipovic like the next Jason Taylor. It's like the TV cameras are attracted to his mug the same way cameras were magnetized to JT back in the day. Any plans for a calendar?

There is a good chance by the beginning of next soccer season I will have a Zakuani jersey to wear to the Zips games. I freaking love the Sounders jerseys.

I was thinking the same thing, too. If there was ever any question as to who my favorite MLS team is, that's been decided. It's GREAT to see the fan support up in Seattle as well. It's likely Steve couldn't have walked into a better situation than he has in Seattle (at least in North America).

Sounders custom jerseys are not hard to find. Just check out MLSnet.com or foxsoccershop.com. But expect to pay $90 or more for #11 Zakuani. I'm hoping prices decline in the summer.
