Was actually posted on CFN weeks ago.. note the by line...

CFN is notoriously inaccurate.. suggest you check them out and read predictions on all MAC teams thus far....

They usually say the season will be a success if "this team has a winning season or should be .500 or better or six wins is a reasonable expectation with this schedule." They have no idea what they are talking about when it comes to the MAC....

I submit the following as evidence:

Thus far the CFN has profiled the following MAC schools with the following predictions:

Akron: "The season will be a success if ... Akron finishes with a winning season. There can't be any gaffes like there was last year to MTSU and there needs to be an unexpected win over a good team, but there's no reason to shoot for anything less than six wins with this schedule. "

Buffalo: "The season will be a success if ... Buffalo finishes with five wins. If the team can't win five wins with this much experience and this much depth, it might not ever be able to."

CMU: "The season will be a success if ... CMU comes up with a winning season. Considering 1998 was the last winning season, and the only one since 1994, getting to at least 6-5 would be a great boost for the program. "

NIU: "The season will be a success if ... Northern Illinois wins the MAC. It's time to take the next step. Beating Toledo and getting to the MAC title would make for a good season, but Joe Novak's team has been too close and too good not to become champions."

WMU: "The season will be a success if ... WMU finishes with a winning season. The MAC schedule is way too favorable to demand anything less. There can't be slipups against Buffalo, Ball State or Central Michigan."

So far everybody is Five Wins or better????

Can't will be "a winning season" as will Ball State, Ohio, EMU..

BG, Toledo and Miami will be "win the conference." So if everybody is 5 to 6 wins or better, then who's going to suck??? Apparently nobody...maybe Temple in 2006??

I can’t speak about any of the other predictions for the teams mentioned. I only know about the Zips and in my book, 6 wins will be a success. Maybe they are pulling it out of their A$$, or maybe the predictions have some basis to them, but I wouldn’t classify their analysis as crap just because they have a similar analysis for multiple teams. If you haven’t noticed, there are a few good MAC teams and a bunch of crappy ones. That would mean the crappy ones get similar reports.
