w00t Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 Much bigger crowd than there was Friday night... The locals must know there's a quality opponent in town. Quote

Z.I.P. Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 Ampai!!! Teal puts it across and Ampai finishes. 1-0 Zips.Veteran leadership! That's what I expected from our midfield last year (meaning that I thought those two -- Blair and Ampai, would have more goals and assists), but we got 20 goals from another guy up front, and were less in need of all-around team play and ball possession in the midfield. It should be much more spread around this year. We don't need one guy to take over -- many are capable. Quote
ZachTheZip Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 What happened? It looks like we got carded on the team? Was Coach porter going off or was it a rowdy bench? And how'd Teal get his with a card too? Quote
w00t Posted September 7, 2009 Author Report Posted September 7, 2009 Teal was denied a foul on a breakaway and Coach Porter was carded for protesting the no call. Teal was booked for kicking the ball away a minute later on a Tulsa free kick... He was understandably frustrated. The cards were about the only thing they (Tulsa) have reason to cheer about thus far. Quote

ZachTheZip Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 And now a pair of cards on Tulsa. I'm guessing they're because of frustration. Playing Akron seems to cause a lot of teams to start committing hard fouls. Quote
ZachTheZip Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 This weekend pretty much answered the question of whether we would dominate the C-USA like we do the MAC. Quote
w00t Posted September 9, 2009 Author Report Posted September 9, 2009 First 20 minutes have been a Zips passing clinic.W00t, How does Mwila look in sub for Nagbe? How much pace do those two have? Can Tulsa say with either? Seriously.Mwila and Nagbe both look solid (and have pace to spare)... couldn't quite put any goals together after that first one though. Tulsa played much better defense in the second half (formation switch that kept more men behind the ball). Meves made a great outstretched fingertip save on a shot that looked almost sure to tie it up as well. Hopefully we'll pick up two more wins in Cincinnati this weekend. Quote
