Rebound

History can repeat itself, the Zips have been down before and rebounded to a winning season. Don't count JD and company out to coach the team up and make a run. This team is not going to give up and we need to be supportive. If the O-line can give Nicely the protection he needs he showed the poise to deliver the ball. The recievers need to focus on catching the ball and moving the chains. The special teams need to grab there boot straps up and focus on the job at hand. It's not going to be easy but at the end of the day THAT'S WHY THEY PLAY THE GAME!! Go Zips!!

The o-line gave Nicely a lot of time and he stayed in the pocket pretty well. It looked like they opened some good holes too. If the team can play up to its potential and get back to an acceptable number of turnovers, the schedule is not so tough that a run at the MAC East is impossible. Keep in mind, there was a time in 2005 that things looked pretty bleak. Right now, total focus should be on beating Buffalo.

I'm not giving up on my alma mater. I'm going to keep swinging for the fences (is that the appropriate metaphor?). However, the team just lost to OHIO for Pete's sake -- at home. On Homecoming. Frankly, the only way I see this season ending successfully is if baller4life gets the start at QB this week, and throws for 800 yards, and runs for 400. With our luck, we'll probably have 22 turnovers, and go to overtime. :D

As much as I have been disappointed with the first five games of the season, I have to admit that watching Nicely in his first game action has provided a spark in my overall outlook. I realize Patrick will make some mistakes in the coming weeks, but I think he'll do far more good than bad. In fact, while I think a winning season remains highly unlikely I believe the odds of the Zips winning 6 of 7 under TODAY'S situation are better than they were for the Zips to win 6 of 8 under the conditions we had BEFORE the OU game. Dr. Z asked the question a while back if any of us thought a QB's play could make the offensive line look better. That was an astute, perhaps prophetic comment. Hey, if anything, it's much harder for Bates to snap it over Patrick's head due to his height :D It'll be interesting. Let's see what happens in Buffalo. Finally, best wishes to you, Matt Rodgers. I hope and pray for a full recovery. You'd have a role on this team in the future if I'd have my way. Go Zips!!

The longer you watch sports, the more you realize that almost anything can happen during the course of a season. Sure, there are some teams that always seem to win and some who always seem to lose. But there are also teams that start fast and then totally collapse, while others go from mediocre to competitive. The Zips showed a mix of good and bad against OU. The game was not a rout. It turned on a few key plays. Change those few key plays and the outcome could have been quite different. When a team gives up, that's when its fans should give up. The Zips have not given up. They're still out there trying to get it right. And as long as the Zips are trying, we fans owe it to them to support them and continue hoping for the breakthrough.

I'm not expecting anything. I go to the games to support my team and school no matter if they win or lose. Yeah, it sucked losing again Saturday night but honestly, I had a ball. It was awesome. Far more fans in the stands than I expected and the night game atmosphere blew my mind. In the beginning of the year I was reading all of these things about the team and their talent and thought we were going to be a powerhouse of a team and honestly surprise Penn State. Now we're 1 and 4 and it sucked for a little while but who cares, it's not like if they lose every game I'm going to stop being a Zips fan. That's what it's all about...Win or lose this is your team. I understand the disgust from boosters and financial supporters and what not but the team is out there to playing for us, sacrificing so they can play football. I think their confidence has taken a BIG hit but they haven't given up, and neither should any of the fans. That's why we're THE ZIPS NATION.

Agree with you that however this season turns out I will remain a Zips fan. BUT............does it have to be so agonizing to watch?! I am a fan. I want to be entertained, and this year has been anything but fun to watch. The gameday experience (tailgaiting, fans, friends etc) always pleases me. The actual games are the opposite of pleasing. Demoralizing, boring, disappointing are the words I will use until the on-field product improves. As a fan, I hope it does. As a realist, though, my hopes are dashed.
