Heard a couple of radio ads pushing Akron season tickets... ad was about "coming out to see the next NFL star to play at Akron." Who will be the next Charlie Frye???

Then watching the Browns/Bears game, Charlie does an ad for the U... at the end Charlie is standing in the new field house with the Zips and says "Oh, and they have a pretty good football team too!" The Zips go nuts behind him.... Brilliant...

Charlie being drafted by the Browns just might take the Zips to the next level. If we continue to upgrade facilities that is. The publicity UA football is getting from the "local boy makes good" angle is totally immeasurable. Even the Beacon has had to cover him. Had Charlie been taken by any other team, not the same at all...

Think the local blue chippers will at least listen to JD because of Charlie? You better believe it. Every time Charlie steps on the field in a Browns uni.. Akron benefits....

JD had a great recruiting class last year. I expect great thing again this year. Now he can point to Charlie, Jason Taylor and Dwight Smith... Jake Schifino and Matt Cherry... and his contacts with Mike Shanahan and other NFL coaches. This could really get exciting soon!!

Charlie is still a huge part of the Zip's future...

Thanks Charlie... your a class act....

I totally agree. Charlie Frye playing for the Browns is the greatest football recruiting marketing campaign UA has ever had. As he continues his rise in the NFL, not only will the local kids take notice, but so will anyone across the country who happens to tune into a Browns game be it on NFL Sunday ticket or a nationally televised contest. I've got to think that Jason Taylor has also helped, but a local hero such as Frye can lure potential Suckeye recruits to Akron.
