The future is bright. It's been pretty awesome to see the Zips getting mentions in the bigger newspapers recently, between this and the football coaching stories showing up in the Chicago Tribune. I assume that the MLS id a notch or 2 below. They are a notch or two below. Until they develop a better way of identifying talent, they will remain there. The Seattle Sounders are the only team in the MLS to employ a talent scout. Maybe if they watched more NCAA games they would be able to identify some hidden gems and increase the available talent depth. Right now they rely on the youth national teams more than they should. I assume that the MLS id a notch or 2 below.I believe the biggest difference is that English and European professional clubs have youth academies that are 50-100 years old (?), and they identify their potential future players when they are twelve or thirteen, rather than when they are in college. College? There ain't no stinking college football over there! If they're any good, they're getting paid by 16. And Andres Muniain of AC Bilbao is scoring goals in La Liga at 16. ?Como se dice Que Vaya Leones en Euskara? Quote
