UAM
University of Akron basketball fans can get a sneak peek at this season's men's and women's teams this Friday night during "Season Premiere" at Rhodes Arena. The event, which gets underway with the UA-Can't State volleyball match at 6:30 p.m., will showcase the hoops teams in their first official practice of the season at approximately 8:30 p.m. Admission to "Season Premiere" is free for all season ticket holders, UA students, faculty, staff. Admission for the general public is only $3 with all proceeds going to support the UA Athletics Diversity Scholarship Fund. All attendees will receive complimentary Pepsi products, hot dogs, popcorn and schedule posters and will be eligible for a variety of door prizes given away throughout the evening. Fans will be welcomed to the arena by a four-beam searchlight much like Hollywood celebrities at a movie premiere. The men's basketball season ticket marketing campaign will center around four of the Rubber City's own men's players: Dru Joyce, Matt Futch, Romeo Travis and Jeremiah Wood. The women's theme will also be presented, featuring each of the 15 members of the 2005-06 Zips women's basketball squad. The team-specific themes will be introduced to the public at "Season Premiere". "Season Premiere" will feature a basketball scrimmage as well as interactive games between Zips team members and the audience, including a 3-point shoot-off and slam dunk contest. A contest with the student body, scheduled to begin in the first week of October, will select a student body champion to compete against UA players in the dunk contest. Season tickets and group plans for Akron basketball are now on sale and can be ordered by contacting the Athletics Ticket Office at 1-888-99-AKRON. zipper
Did anyone else catch the Fantastic Four piece in the ABJ yesterday? Great idea and very well done. Where can we get the poster? Will these be available Friday at this event? The women's photo was good too and nice to have the whole team.

That poster should be a lot better then last year's with KD. Season Premier event on Friday seems like a good time for all.
