This doesn't surprise me at all. In about 10 years, Akron has gone from being a scaled down version of Cleveland to being more of a scaled down version of Columbus. Social researchers are just figuring this out, the genereal population's perception is usually ten years behind. At this rate, this is going to be a very nice city in 2020.
