GoZips
Sad news. The Zips lost 1-0 to Indiana in the fourth minute of the first overtime. Heck of a performance playing without Ross MacKenzie.

KeeprOFtheHous
The loss did suck but as Lolla said the crowd of 4400 that is huge! more than our FB sometimes will mimick some of the crowds for the NCAA tourn. and YES we will be in it . We will crush the MAC and move with efficiency through the NCAAs i have no doubts. Not having Ross was a huge loss. but he'll be back. Zip Watcher
I agree that it seems like a disappointing loss, but showed something of the Zips. An OT loss at the 2 time defending national champs, without your (probably consensus) All American scorer isn't the end of the world. While knowing virtually nothing about futbol strategery, it would seem that IU did control the game, given the shots on goal ratio. I guess it shows the Zips where they need to be in a couple of weeks. In basketball anyway, I'm a big proponent of the theory that teams that win the National Title usually have a late season loss to sharpen the resolve and motivation. Perhaps that can be the case here. I think there's a good chance the Zips will see the Loosiers again this month. Let's hope so! Go Zips! Z.I.P.
I think there's a good chance the Zips will see the Loosiers again this month. Let's hope so! Go Zips! My own prediction is that if Akron plays IU again, it won't be this month. In fact, if the guys win the MAC, they are completely deserving of hosting through the regional, in which case, they couldn't possibly play Indiana again until December 9 or 11 in Cary, NC -- the NCAA College Cup. I'm not sure if both Indiana AND Akron (both from the Great Lakes region) would be eligible to host regionals, but they should. In another case, Maryland moved into the #1 position in Soccer America's top-25 poll, with Indiana #2 and UA 3rd. UMd was #2 in the SA poll last week, while the NSCAA poll had New Mexico #2. UNM tied Sac St. over the weekend. In MY poll, which is no more or less valid than the others, Akron is #2 to the Hoosiers. Does anyone care about polls? Go Zips! Just win!
