Thirsty Dog Brewing Co. will open its long-awaited public tasting room on Saturday.

The Akron brewery — maker of such beers as Old Leghumper and 12 Dogs of Christmas — has installed a bar and will offer 12 of its beers on draft.

"The greatest reward, more than medals or anything else, is the guy sitting across the bar that's consuming your product that you worked hard to make," co-owner John Najeway said.

Thirsty Dog is a production brewery and not a brewpub where people can sit down and enjoy a meal. Many production breweries have tasting rooms as a way to introduce people to their beer and they are a popular gathering spot after a brewery tour.
