ZachTheZip Posted December 11, 2010 Report Posted December 11, 2010 Not dead. Not yet. So long as the remaining five members stay together until 2017 (5 years after the schools leave in 2012) the WAC will remain an NCAA-recognized conference. The rule is 5 teams for 5 years. So if one more team leaves, the WAC is dead until after 2017 when the new core is together long enough to satisfy NCAA requirements. If the WAC dies, they lose all automatic bids in all sports. They would continue to be eligible for bowls in football, even BCS bowls because the NCAA doesn't control the post-season for the FBS. Quote
