Dave in Green Posted December 13, 2010 Report Share Posted December 13, 2010 Buckzip, did you ever stop to think that your constant railing against any Zips fan who dares mention OSU on this Zips fan forum only increases animosity against OSU and its fans? Calling people names and insulting them for expressing something you don't happen to agree with is not productive. In fact it's counterproductive. It helps reinforce all the negative stereotypes about OSU fans, whether the stereotypes are true or not. The best way to combat negative stereotyping of OSU and its fans is to not make yourself an example of the negative stereotype, but to conduct yourself in a way that those who do not care for OSU and its fans cannot point their fingers at you and say: I rest my case. DIG, No I haven't considered that. The reason is because I ignore most OSU bashes. Other than the smack board, I only respond to stupidity. Having to bash OSU in a thread about the NC soccer Zips is stupid and sad. I have been here a long time and have experienced this SPS for a long time. If anyone on an OSU board were to call out Akron, I would go after them too. However, they don't do that. I don't like anyone bashing either of my Alma Mater for no reason. I ignore much more than I respond to. You obviously don't see it because it isn't attacking your alma mater. Please don't tell me how to act. If you are saying that responding to those that attack your alma mater is feeding into a negative stereotype, then we have little more to discuss. You obviously have little objectivity on the matter. Perhaps you should be calling out those that feel the urge to attack a school that has nothing to do with anything related to UA winning a NC.
