Humpty returns to Ohio

Hump the H@mp, is avgg 10ppg  and nearly equal rro/assists.

I don't know where you're getting your numbers from, but the Hump is averaging 8.4 points per game (the lowest of his career) while averaging 1.8 assists and 1.8 turnovers (down from his 2.8 assists and 1.7 turnovers last season) while playing a little over 29 minutes a night (the most of his career). His shooting percentages from the field and from 3 are the highest of his career at 39.6% each. It also appears that he injured himself in their last game against Marshall and only played 9 minutes. Not sure what his status is for the Can't game.

For anyone who's interested, a comparison of season stats for Hitchens and Abreu can be found on statsheet.com at the link below. Rough summary is that Hitchens has about 50% more PT and is shooting at a higher percentage, but Abreu as a true freshman in only his first dozen games already has about twice as many assists per game, twice as good an assist-to-turnover rate and triple the assist percentage rate.

I would expect Abreu's shooting percentage to improve as he gets more comfortable playing at the college level, and I would expect as he gains more experience that by the end of the season his overall stats will be significantly better than Hitchens' in all the areas most important for a PG.

Hump's average was about 10 ppg before the most recent game in which he was injured early and had to sit the rest of the game going scoreless.

Regardless of what the numbers say, Hump has struggled alot still with the loss of his Dad and hasn't fully healed from that ordeal but he's using basketball as a way to free his mind from it and he's really bonded well with his new teammates and likes his new school.

I still check up on the Zips from time to time and it sounds like you guys have alot to be excited about in the future. Best of luck.

Can't loses at home to James Madison 60-51.

Humpty with 11 points, two assists, and three rebounds in 37 minutes of play.

Humpy was the only one on the team who had much knowledge of what playing at Can't is all about. He knew the physicality, the poor officiating, the things the student sections resort to, the strange orange tint that permeates the arena...

I'm sure he was instrumental in getting his team prepared for that environment.

JMU was down by one at the half. Humpty made three of three 3 point shots in the second half that was the biggest factor in turning the tide of the game (ending Can't's 15 game home winning streak). He started at the 2 but played alot at PG. He seemed more muscular than I remember (plus a few more tats not that it matters).

What are the chances Can't goes 18-of-60 (30%) from the field including 4-of-21 (19%) on 3-pointers against US next week?

Can't is having problems right now. After starting 7-1 they have gone 2-4 over their last six and now sit at 9-5. The loss of Guyton is clearly having an impact on this team as they were a very erratic perimeter shooting team before he left. Being their best outside shooter, his loss is making them even more erratic. They have one good big guy in Justin Greene, but they are struggling to find another post presence to play off of him. They are really trending downwards recently having lost at him to Humpty and JMU and taking a 17 point shellacking from Morehead State on the road before that. That said, they have better than a week to prepare for the Zips while we have a game Monday evening. Both teams will bring their A games next Saturday night. I expect nothing less than a slugfest.
