ksu sucks Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2011/05/to...rsities_ma.html CLEVELAND, Ohio - Ohio's public universities could be assigned to tiers, based on well how they perform, and those at the top would be able to operate almost like private businesses, Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor Jim Petro said Tuesday. Does anyone know how this will affect UA? I heard about a year ago that the state of Ohio plans on making the research oriented universities less and less dependent on state dollars. This appears to be what the article is referring to. According to the people I talked to, the liberal arts departments(arts, history, philosophy, etc) across the state are going to be seeing bigger cuts in state funding. Universities whose student body and faculty primarily focus on these disciplines will be hit the hardest. The article makes it sound like only Ohio State and a select few(unnamed) universities will be safe. Question is, who are the "select few"? Quote
