KingZip
Akron is ranked #65 on the Rivals Recruiting web site - #1 in the MAC again.Lost WR commit to Ohio was not a loss. Zips have other highly rated receivers on the line who scared this kid off. Had to go to his plan b which was the farm school in Athens. bobbyake
Rivals.com is giving some Akron recruits a better rating than what scout.com is. We're not doing so well there, tied for 93 scouts rakingAnd ratings mean nothing sometimes so don't focus on that. Akron has a good program under JD, I'm sure he's not that much concerned with what a website rates the players he's recruiting. He'll get the right players to make this team good regardless..I loved hearing him speak at the basketball game. That was the best half-time show all year. br30302004
I would agree.. I don't think the WR loss to OU will kill the class. From what I am hearing this class is shaping up to be the #1 class in the MAC again.I know rivals and scouts are listing 8 or 9 verbals, a campus source told me that the actual number is close to 13 as we head to Feb 1st. My source also said they are in a couple recruiting battles for 3 star recruits that is probably going to come down to signing day.
RobC2
I agree. Often the website rankings don't mean much d/t teams recruiting needs. We are now in a position to recruit specific needs instead of trying to build an entire football team with one recruiting class & thus the "overall strength" of the class may be rated lower than in the past, but the JD's actually getting the players we need.Ohio sucks. They don't even know where to begin. That WR wouldn't sniff the field at Akron. It was an understandable and good move for him to go somewhere he can get some p/t. He might very well start next season in Athens!Sean Hakes is the best QB and Andre Boone is the best RB coming into the MAC. Our WR's are top-shelf. Last year's OL prospects were the best in the MAC. We're just fine. Next year our DL is going to be just flat-out amazing. Ohio will be lucky to manage a field goal against us. We're going to humiliate them on their home field.
