yazan07 Posted September 12, 2011 Report Posted September 12, 2011 MLS soccer just released a list of its top 24 players under age 24. Here is the link. You'll notice a few familiar names in there. They also released numbers 25-40, which kind defeats the purpose of making it 24 under 24, but oh well. Check both lists for six former Akron players, and Will Bruin twice. Top honors went to Brek Shea, who is having an outstanding season. Spoiler alert: two of our guys made the top 5, right behind a few US national team regulars. Pretty impressive, but I guess anymore it's expected from the University of Akron soccer factory Quote

yazan07 Posted September 13, 2011 Author Report Posted September 13, 2011 Ok so the reason Will Bruin is listed twice is because I was mistaken about the format of this list. MLS conducted fan voting, but is determining the list from an expert panel. The 25-40 who were announced are those who missed the cut based on the panel's decision, and the 1-24 were based on fan voting. the experts'1-24 will be released in sections over the next few days and weeks. I still expect to see the four that made it on the fan voted list to be in the experts' list, but maybe not in the same order. Glad to see MLS fans rate our former players so highly. Quote
yazan07 Posted September 17, 2011 Author Report Posted September 17, 2011 Perry was #17, Darlington #10. Top five haven't been announced yet but it will almost certainly be in some order Teal, Steve, Brek Shea, Juan Agudelo, and Andy Najar. Oh and Darlington had another great goal tonight! Quote
yazan07 Posted September 21, 2011 Author Report Posted September 21, 2011 Also, Teal came in at #5. Three Zips in the top 10! Quote
Ando Posted September 21, 2011 Report Posted September 21, 2011 So the last 3 are pretty clearly Najar, Montero, and Shea, and I think they have Montero at 1.So does that leave Shea at 2 and Najar at 3? Quote

Must be, because Agudelo hasn't been on the list yet Quote
