AMSTERDAM — Sporting Kansas City forward Teal Bunbury is set for a training visit with English Premier League side Bolton, MLSsoccer.com has learned.

The 21-year-old spurned the chance to work out with Hoffenheim to visit Wanderers, becoming the latest in a long line of Major League Soccer players to arrange such trips in Europe this offseason. One source indicated to MLSsoccer.com that Bunbury may also work out with another English club after his Bolton stint.

Now nursing an ankle knock, he is expected to join up in early December for two weeks.

Currently 18th in the EPL, the Reebok Stadium crew already employ injured US midfielder Stuart Holden and now have the Colorado Rapids' Jeff Larentowicz with them in training.

Bunbury has previously worked out with Stoke City and was the subject of a failed Brøndby bid this summer. In 2011, the second-year man bagged nine goals in MLS this season and added another pair in the playoffs.

Bolton basically went to shit when Stu went down

pretty remarkable, really.

Hope to see Teal do well, and hopefully get into a few reserve matches

some are assuming Bolton will make a bid for Teal, I'd hate to see another talented American player in the EPL, especially when Series A is stronger (debate it all you want but look at the EUFA Champions League.. I'm in the camp of wanting to see the MLS grow with the MLS going after the best talent in the world (Messi or Ronaldo in Seattle).

I think the Bolton faithful might be a little disappointed if all the team can muster up for a January loan/transfer bid is Bunbury, although I think it'd be a good move for Teal, provided he doesn't wither away on the benchEven if Bolton gets relegated, it'd be fun to have another guy overseas I think. It's probably better for his development too - The quality between the Championship and MLS is probably levelish anymore, but the English leagues are probably a little deeper still yet. The MLS aren't going to be getting the Messis or Ronaldos or Van Persies anytime soon. That's just unrealistic thinking. Twilighting players like Lampard or Del Piero might be a little more feasible, should teams be willing to cough up the money for themI don't buy the notion that we should be hoarding our best players - Michael Bradley's time with Chievo, for instance, is doing wonders for his tactical awareness, something that just wouldn't have happened had he been playing in MLS at the moment
