ESPN.com's Mark Schlabach uses OUR Coach as resource for recruiting column

Hopefully Terry can find us a decent quarterback. We haven't had one here in a few years. He doesn't have to be an in-state guy, just has to be a better than average FBS prospect who can help us to a winning record and a few bowl games.

I'm told that the QB situation is a good one. Coach Bowden has always been an OC/QB Coach/HC - so no one understands better how important the RIGHT QB is to the success of a football team.

Meaning they feel the current QB situation is a good one or that they are onto someone?

I think it's probably a combination of both. Must be happy with what we've already got, and comfortable that anyone he's bringing in will be able to compete for the starting job. The great thing about having someone behind you working/playing hard to take your spot, is that it will either bring out your competitive spirit and make you better; or it will prove that the new guy deserves the spot.

Our QB situation is fairly solid, despite the play from that position for the past two years. Nobody we had fit with the system we were trying to run. But they have played well in an up-tempo no huddle offense.

As of now, we have the following at QB:

Patrick Nicely, Clayton Moore, Zach D'Orazio, Kyle Pohl, Curtis Watson, Tyrell Goodman, and Steve Franco.

Somebody will emerge. Take a look at what these players have accomplished in high school, who else was recruiting them, what kind of honors they received, and you'll know that somebody can step up.

The QB coach will teach these guys how to not only compete, but win. AJ is a proven overachiever and a winner, and a heck of a young man to boot.
