zipman Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 Does anyone know if Tuzze will start at Full Back? Quote
fear the brown roo Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 we hardly ever use a fullback anymore. maybe next year we will but the trend is a single back set. :macc: Quote
Beanie 4 Heisman Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 actaully we use a fullback quite a bit. Joe McDaniel will probably still start next year. i think Tuzze could see some quality playing time. Quote
fear the brown roo Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 what games are you watching? the zips go with the one back set the vast majority of the time :macc: Quote
gozips19 Posted February 19, 2006 Report Posted February 19, 2006 you both are right.....they use a fb more than you think but it is still only about 35% of the time. with that said that is more than some programs in college football so it is a lot. reguardless he'll get some playing time but i don't think he will start next year unless he really improves. UADavid Posted February 19, 2006 Report Posted February 19, 2006 I would put the use of the fullback at an even lower percentage. I'd bet that the two back set accounted for less than 20 percent of the formations and next year may be less. We have a wide open offense that favors the pass with many 3 receiver sets. We even ran 4 receiver sets and with the addition of Harvey and Henderson to Arthur and Long, that trend will continue. This year, the TE will also get a lot more work with Kasparek and Poindexter. I wish they had used the TE's more last year. Now if you want to talk about two years ago, the fullback was a bigger part of the offense but that ship has sailed. Will we use a fullback, yes, but more in play action pass and blocking schemes. :macc: Quote
zen Posted February 19, 2006 Report Posted February 19, 2006 Will we use a fullback, yes, but more in play action pass and blocking schemes. :macc: Seems like some pro teams never put in a fullback except for those goalline/short yardage situations where both teams know what the playcall is going to be. zipman Posted February 21, 2006 Author Report Posted February 21, 2006 If Tuzze won't see much playing time at Full Back why not have him play Line backer. He is a very tough kid and can play LB. Quote
Beanie 4 Heisman Posted February 21, 2006 Report Posted February 21, 2006 tuzze was a lineback in high school as well as a running back, but i dont think he has the speed that we have been recruiting to play linebacker. Quote
fear the brown roo Posted February 21, 2006 Report Posted February 21, 2006 i could see him being a special teams monster at the very least Quote
Beanie 4 Heisman Posted February 21, 2006 Report Posted February 21, 2006 most definatly. i think he will see time on most of the special teams units. probably not field goal but on everything else maybe. I still believe he will play at fullback as well, but joe will still be the starter more than likely Quote
