zipfan 81
Do you think coach will adjust with this at all? After the Miami game I talked to some players and they said how tired our guards were, I don't know if the players themselves are actually are saying it, or just showing it in how they play, especially Dials and Joyce! When Coach talks about it after the game in the interview, duh! But does he make changes?
Valpo Zip
I can see why they would be tired in the January stretch but I don't see why would they be tired playing games that are 5 days apart (friday to wednesday). And once again, Mraz and Sowers are right there on the bench if KD wants to use them ! RACER
good point .theyhad five days rest. the kids are 18-22 years old. if they are tired then it's an issue with overtraining in practice.not from playing games.
Steuby_UAkron
If this is true and it isn't fixed then they're going to have a hard time winning a MAC championship with 3 games in 3 days.
basketballman31
The statistics alone prove that they are tired. Joyce and Dials have been pretty bad from the field the last 4-5 games.Walther could be used now couldnt he? And you guys are so happy that hes gone.Well remember when you guys are trying to win the MAC title in 3 games in 3 days and your missing your missing your 4th leading scorer and hes on the ohio bench waiting to put it to you the next 2 years. basketballman31
Hes not overrated because hes not hyped up. hes not underrated either but you could be using him right now.Dials is the 1 overrated. 25-30 min. a game and he doesnt do hardly anything. everyone talks about how good his defense is look at who scores for the other team. Oh is it there two guard? i believe so. everygame its like that except for the BG game that was good D on samarco. But your right Walther is no good hes the worst player ever isnt he? he was all freshman team, and last year in games when he played over 25 min. he did alot more than dials does. But the main topic is tired guards and they are def. wearing down and the scouting report is out on middleton and he doesnt know the game well enough to do anything else. Your 5'10 guards are wearing down and keith didnt learn his lesson from last year when he played dru so much and he sucked at the end of last year just like this year. Valpo Zip
Walther could be used now couldnt he? Dude, you make it sound like as if Bubba was at the door of the gym begging the coaches to let him play but the coaches refused and kicked him out ! That's not what happened...Bubba had a scholarship and he was getting more playing time than he deserves and he was having issues with his team mates and his coaches and He is the one who decided to leave ! for those guys who keep coming on this board and talk about how Bubba would have been helpful etc... what do you suggest ? do you think that KD should have gone on his knees begging him to stay and promiss him that he will be playing 30 minutes a night even when he is shooting 10% FG ? There is much more to a basket ball team player than shooting 3 pointers (and especially if it is inconsistent)... Since the moment he left, the team has been more united and there isn't any single locker room issue and we are having our best season since when i was born so for god's sake enough Bubba talk, let's move on ! Z-Pouch
I’m going to give Dambrot some credit and criticism on this one so fire up the replies if you like…..I got to believe that if you’re practicing well, you will earn minutes. KD's a straight shooter.Who are you going to play? You are out of scholarship players and down to counting on walk ons --- Don’t kid yourself, there is a huge drop off in talent at that point. Based on practices, KD obviously doesn’t believe he can afford to play the walk ons and still win the games. Miraz, Sowers and Goddard must not be playing at crucial times in tight games due to their defensive liability. From what I’ve seen which is limited to games not practices, Sowers has the most potential of that group to provide valuable minutes. Miraz and Goddard are just out of their element – size and speed, they are role/practice players. Sowers however, is taller, more athletic and should be able to hold his own in the right defensive schemes. Offensively he has shown a really nice shot this year. He has potential but it needed to be developed in games. However, I’m sure now is the time to start developing anyone – that opportunity was missed when KD decided not to play Sowers or anyone else when we were leading by 10 and 20 points throughout the season. I won’t argue that KD may have been too conservative in handling larger leads and at the end of some blowouts. A classic was seeing Dials and his knee out on the floor up by 15-20 at home and 3 minutes left in the game. What the ........ I doubt playing Ohio, @Buffalo and Can't will provide any chance of comfortably getting anyone new into the game and change rotations. So, can 3 guards playing a combined number of minutes greater then 80 work – probably not. But can they handle up to 80 minutes – absolutely if spread out. This is where I think our problem lies, we can't play too many (if any) 3 guard sets for what we have on the bench. KD has to really limit these or we are going to be in trouble playing consecutive days. Solution - Peterson has to get more minutes at the 3….or even Sowers in those instances as a #2 or #3 (he won't kill the defense)……..Rybak would be an option but his disappointing freshman season hasn’t helped. All of this tired guard talk reminds me of the Getsy/Ferguson threads during football season, I think JD knew what he was doing there and it seemed to work out just fine. :macc:
dialsfan11
Holy shit, finely someone who knows what they are talking about. Well done Z-pouch. And in response to Dials being overrated, ARE YOU SERIOUS!! He plays fewer minutes than our ,hands down, stud Romeo Travis and has only 3 fewer points a game. Oh and by the way, HE TORE HIS ACL!! Anyone that can play with the intensity he does game in and game out after undergoining that kind of surgery is amazing. So before you call people overrated, think about all of the aspects of his game. Oh and by the way his FT% is in the top 50 in the nation. Players play roles and he's doing exactly what he should be so back off. And further about Bubba, I actually talked to him last night and asked him about his transfer and this is what he told me;"I could have stayed this year but coach has his "guys" and i wasnt one of them me and him werent the best of friends lets put it like that."So all of you keep the Bubba bashing to a minimum. Dambrot would never give him the playing time he deserved so you can't hate a guy for wanting to play.Oh and...
gozips19
how much time did he deserve? he is one dimensional and so does bubba
dialsfan11
I guess you don't remember the San Juan Shootout, where the first two games he was 6 for 11 from three. In those two games he only played 22 and 23 minutesand scored 12 adn 15 points respectively. I'm just as pissed as anyone that he transferred but don't be an ignorant fan and say he wasn't good now that he's gone. Especially when almost all of the fans loved him when he was here. That's all I'm saying.F*CK OU and
