GoZips Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 At an 11:30 AM press conference carried live on ESPN2 John Chaney retired as theTemple head coach. This decision becomes effective at the end of the season. As if the taller, more athletic Owls needed and extra kick to pound on the Zips.Actually, its a great ploy to motivate the Owls through the NIT tournament.Let's end John "the Thugger" Chaney's season Tuesday evening there by providinga lot of heart felt relief for the basketball community.Go Zips Quote
JimmyD2 Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 Chaney will not be coaching against the Zips according to THIS STORY, due to his wife's health... Quote
dialsfan11 Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 Not coaching the entire tournament is the latest that I've heard. Quote
maggiemoo Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 So, will Chaney's not being there help the zips (because an assistant will be coaching), or will it hurt us (because the team will rally around their missing coach)? Quote
you am i Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 Obviously, it hurts them not having their stratagist on the floor, but the emotional edge this gives Temple has to be significant. My guess is that it hurts UA more than it helps. It was a tough draw, this makes it tougher. Quote
