zipsbandman
Did anybody see the new pictures of the rec center and field house on gozips.com? No, it is not done yet, but I can only imagine how great the final product will look. They finally show us pictures from the locker rooms and the sports medicine/weight room. I can understand why recruiting will skyrocket. The golf facility looks complete, and it is amazing. There is no excuse for us not to have a good program there. By next fall, the campus will be different. Students will have access to larger food courts, blliard rooms, and a bowling alley in the student center. A brand new honors dormitory will be complete, which I am staying in. Also, the university will begin the new state of the art cba global business building and the guzzetta hall addition that will start in the fall. UA is going to have a lot to sell to potential students and athletes. All these buildings I mentioned will have an indirect benefit to athletics. Soon, UA will dominate northern Ohio and then the MAC in athletics and academics!
Zipsrifle
Bandman...Your Welcome. UA didn't do squat when I was there, probably saved all the money I gave them in addition to the money they got from the State and are spending it all now. Good thing too. I don't know how many times in the last 15 years I went to OSU and they were building, building, building. Proenza is the MAN! I head that when he went to the Board of Regents, he told them that Akron has sat on the sidelines too long and that he needed $200 million to get Akron to where it needed to be. He also told them that he wasn't inflating the figure and that the State either gives Akron $200 million or nothing at all. We all know what happened. I'll tell you what, that guy has done so much during his tenure, it's amazing. I remember when Peggy was president, she didn't do JACK. The steps in front of the Student center were crumbling for 2 years and all she did was put barricades around them. He's taken the helm of the ship, gave it right full rudder, and called up about 20 tug boats to turn that place around.
zipboy
I agree, Proenza is the MAN. I was there during the Peggy years as well. Talk about free fall. We had Peggy, Gerry, and Coleman during my era as a Zip student. Quite possibly the darkest days in school history.
I_Miss_You_Trey_71603
This may seem like a dumb question but does UA have a work out facility for all students?

Guest Guest
Yea, but if I remember correctly, it's about the size of my bathroom. It was pathetic. I went there once and never went back. Hopefully the new one is like the one at Miami Ohio. The weights are on the lower level and the stair climbers are on the 2nd level with a nice big opening in the middle. Makes a nice workout environment if you know what I mean.
