br30302004
Zips lost a coach when Donnie Darr resigned as men's golf coach to become an assistant coach for Oklahoma State, which won the 2006 NCAA men's golf title.Darr, a former All-American at Can't State, coached the Zips for one season, guiding them to a seventh-place finish in the Mid-American Conference tournament. He also led UA to first place in the Bradford Creek Intercollegiate in Greenville, S.C., which was the Zips' first tournament title in nine years. UAZipster0305
What else would you expect from a Can't State alum?
UAZipster0305
After further thought and keeping in mind the very similar Julie Wright scenario, I can't help but draw an analogy between a new dominant lion coming into a pride and killing the cubs that aren't of his birth line. Is Mack Rhoads the new king of the pride or are these two situations isolated incidents temporarly brought together by coincidence?
KingZip
Trimmy you could not be more right. It's a new day around here and a new attitude is coming over the staff. Time will tell if it is change for the better.
zipsfan38
I have known Darr for several years and know he is sad about leaving Akron. The opportunity was just too good for him to pass up.By moving to OSU as an assistant Darr more than doubled his salary and gets to be the pro at the University's golf course. The AD at OSU is the former golf coach, the current coach will retire in the next few years. Who would not want to put themselves in line to take over a national power?
