Ryno aka Menace Posted July 20, 2006 Report Posted July 20, 2006 I just glanced through the Big Ten magazine and they have write-ups about the MAC schools, the only knock they have on the Zips is that we are relying on unproven RB's and a mostly green receiving corps. "Can Luke Getsy play at a high level while surrounded by inexperienced skill players? The Zips also break in two new specialists to handle the kicking game."The positive is also what you would expect, "The conferences best QB". and an experienced OL that has depth. My thoughts are we have nothing to worry about, some have already express concerns on this board and I think we all talked about it beforebut after the spring game I feel very confident.I think the fact that we have depth at the OL position is going to be critical, alot of people don't realize how important a good OL is. A poor OL means you can't run or pass. With our OL giving Luke time to pass I think the fact that the WR are inexperienced is irrelevant. Do they know who our coach is? JDB - this man has coached Antonio Bryant, Larry Fitz, and Greg Lee to probably. Man he knows who can catch and who can't that is why he move Hixson. Man we are gonna be fine. If you think i am being to optimistic...so what! Quote
fear the brown roo Posted July 20, 2006 Report Posted July 20, 2006 i think we are deeper than ever at rb and the o-line depth should be just as good. i don't think johnny long is a drop off from jason montgomery and may even be a nice upgrade. jabari and kaz ought to have break out seasons. david harvey will be a nice surprise. we'll be fine, baring a rash of injuries. RACER Posted July 20, 2006 Report Posted July 20, 2006 i think we will be fine at wr. hixson and montgomery were good wr no doubt. ja has the potential to be one of the best wr at akron. he has proven that in the mcb.we are strong at te.both our te can catch the ball which most mac schools don't have. the only downside is no proven second ,and third wr. someone needs to step up since since they could double team jb. kennedy is also a fine reciever out of the backfieild. the rb postition is another matter. i think kennedy will be ok,but there is no else behind him with any pt. the one thing all the rb have going for them is our ol. a good ol ca make an average back look good, and a good back look great.
