Opening week and depth chart

Some thoughts after seeing the depth chart and hearing JD comments1. JD tells it like it is. For him to be happy with the first few days of practice has me excited.2. Too bad about Chris Brown. I liked him and thought that we dropped a notch in the bowl game when Yamari replaced him. Yamari is a fast kid but seemed out of position a lot. Not that Brown is not replaceable, but tough to see his career end like that and it does create a hole.3. Biggest surprise on depth chart - no Dionte Henry on the 2 deep. I never liked him at CB but liked him at safety. A big guy who could hit just not quick enough to cover. Per the roster he is still listed. 4. Talk about the difference a year makes. Last year at this time, I was pretty nervous thinking about the Oline depth and productivity. I thought that we might have 2 FR starters in Anderson and Bates. This year it looks like we have 8 guys that can play.5. Johnny Long looks to be the 3rd receiver backing up Jabari. Does Lindsey get the other slot? Is David Harvey as good as advertised?6. My bet (hope) is that the 2 FR win the kicking and puting duties.7. I am excited about Getsy. But I do hope that a strong #2 develops in case he goes down.8. Kevin Grant at MLB gives us more speed. Stokes, Grant, and maybe a Doug Williams, 3 big kids who can fly to the ball.9. 2nd biggest surprise, no Al Teriq Balaam on the 2 deep. He looked good in the spring.10. I hope Robinson shows up. I do not want to watch a Dwayne Lefall rerun this year. If he can't give the effort, put someone else in there.Go Zips!

i have to agree with buckzip.we need robinson to show. you just can't find 6'5 300 plus d-lineman. if he does not show that puts akron at a big disadvantage in the first two games.

dionte henry is inelligable due to grades and will be redshirted this year. that is why he is not on the depth chart. OOO and David Harvey is BETTER than advertised.

there was a bj article about jackemain & jackson...sounds like the backup qb's are coming along nicely.

Next year we will have a real QB battle on our hands with Jacquemain, Jackson, Hakes, and whoever we end up recruiting. Hopefully we can continue the recent tradition of having SuperQBs in the future.

nice to see another reciever step up,but we need it in the games (when it counts). i have no doubt our qb, and o-line will be ready at penn state. penn state is breaking in four new db's . if we can find some guys to catch the ball we should be able to put up alott of points.

If we can get more recievers ready in time for Penn St. we will really be able to take it to them. They may have Pozluzney(?), but he can't do everything for their defense. Man, I just cant wait until September 2nd.

on the zip home board they said allen is out for the year. not to sound negative,but what do we do if kennedy goes out? plus he can't play the whole game. thank gosh we are a pssing team!!!

i've been thinking that myself... i did see on this board that there were some pos. changes to rb. has any one have an update on their progress? and i will ask again about brinson does anyone know if he's enrolled for fall?
