UA Fan Posted August 15, 2006 Report Posted August 15, 2006 i do believe all state universities in ohio begin with THE, The Ohio State University, The University of Akron, The University of Toledo, etc...all of them except for Can't state u., cleveland state u., youngstown state u., bowling green state u., ohio u., miami u., wright state u., central state u., etc.do you want to rethink this?btw, notice which ones are pretentious enough not to have 'state' in their names...in case they decide to go private someday, I guess. zip37 Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 When I moved here from elsewhere it was Akron U: now it's Univ of Akron-- City school when I got to town-- maybe it came w/ the state status, can't remember when it occured. but I personaly prefer the U of A,. Hey ZIP, what's a Green Bulldog-- never saw one. There's a school south of Akron that has orange and b :wave:lack colors and tries to tell me it Green! WBALAL Quote
sgm405 Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 i do believe all state universities in ohio begin with THE, The Ohio State University, The University of Akron, The University of Toledo, etc... There's a difference between saying:1) The University of Akron and2) THE University of Akron#1 is appropriate, #2 is a ripoff of Ohio State... Quote

ZachTheZip Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 That must be a new thing, I never heard that in my three years in Columbus (campus area).Yep. Its now The OSU. They made the name change official sometime last year to include the word The do differentiate it from Ohio U. It is mostly used by OSU wannabes, fake fans, and ESPN. It basically confirms the "Holier than thou" attitude non OSU fans face when they talk about any college other than tOSU. It drives me nuts when they make it seem like a crime to be from the state of Ohio and be a fan, or even get excited about, another college even if you attend that college. Quote
