I don't think we'll beat them either. It seems like everyone really has their hopes up for this one. People predicted that we'd beat NC State and lose to Central Michigan, what a joke. I'll be happy if we beat Cinci and go 7-5. I guess i'm not setting my hopes up to get crushed.

Well bobby I hope the team doesn't have your attitude about the game cause if they do they will never achieve greatness. The game is 80% mental, I am sure you have heard the phrase if you believe you can achieve. Well the team needs to believe in their abilities and we need to believe in them as well. I remember as a player students would ask me why does Akron play some of these big schools knowing they will never win? It used to burn my ass that someone would say something like that about their own school. It was an adjustment that i had to get used to cause in Massillon fan support was a given in college we had to try an earn fan support. Trust me an athlete may say what the fans say doesn't matter but when yor own fans don't believe in you it makes it that much more of an uphill battle. LOL I have a new attitude this year about the zips!! If you can't say the zips are gonna win don't say nothing at all. :thumb::rock::D

Ryno I agree with you, however it is the other 20% that gets you butt beat. NC State and Penn State have greater depth that Akron and probably a few more skilled position players. While I agree that Akron just might get a win or two here, these games are NOT going to be cakewalks.

If we get our hopes up too much about beating NC State, it will be a big let down if we don't. I don't want to see the whole season go to waste for some just because we lost to a team that always has better recruits and a bigger fan base. I didn't understand at all how some people picked us to beat NC State and lose to Central Michigan right after. If we are good enough to beat NC State, we'll sweep the MAC. I'm predicting a 7-5 season and another bowl game if we don't get the shaft. If we beat NC State, I'll be thrilled. But I'm not going to let it break my heart if we don't. Looking forward to the game though. I'm excited. We'll see what happens. Predictions mean nothing.

I see you point now that you elaborated, but I think the critics feel we will get up for the big game because we have something to prove and then have a let down the following week because of being on a high and not taking the following week as serious. I easily see that happening. Kinda like when we should have beat Army and lost. Northern Ill was better than Army and we beat them twice. Everyone knows we have a tendacy to lose games we should win and win games we shouldn't. Driving Akron fans crazy....just like the Browns.

Bobby, I understand that the only thing you have to go on is how the teams did last year, but please understand this is NOT last year!! Our team is significantly better than a year ago -- just from increased maturity of the youngsters. On the other hand, NCSU may experience the biggest drop-off in the NCAA from last season. Witness Sports Illustrated's calling them the #67 team in the nation and predicting they will go 3-9 overall with a home loss to #56 AKRON. Central Michigan? #83. I think they'll be better than that, and a road win in Mount Pleasant will be no easier than one in NC. IMHO. Call your bookie right away. :thumb:

Chuck Amato on the hot seat...must beat the Zips:http://www.fortwayne.com/mld/journalgazett...azette_colleges"And, of course, there are some who actually deserve to be on the hot seat. N.C. State’s Chuck Amato tops that list. His 46-28 record in seven years in Raleigh doesn’t sound that bad, until you consider the Wolfpack is 19-16 the last three years including a dismal 6-7 ACC mark at Carter-Finley Stadium. So maybe it’s a good thing that the Pack plays four of its last six on the road including consecutive November visits to rivals North Carolina and Clemson, who have beaten NC State the last two years"
