MACReport Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 It was a tough start to opening week no doubt. We have our opening week review with notes and quotes from every game; our offensive and defensive players of the week and a recap of our picks vs. actual results (we went 9-2).Time to reconsider Big Ten-MAC scheduling?Rough Opener in the MAC Quote
bobbyake Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 Offensive Player of the WeekNate Davis, QB, Ball State, 7-8, 108 yards, 3 touchdownsComment: Player of the week does not always come down to which player put up the biggest numbers but also which player had a significant impact for his team. Davis, splitting QB duties with Joey Lynch tossed three touchdowns and was nearly perfect and had a TD/Completion ratio of 43%. Did he not watch the Akron vs Penn State game???? Getsy had an ok game against an amazing defense and Stokes and Mackey both had great days on defense. To me, it looks like he's only looking at stats and picking players with the highest. Can't State has 4 guys up there???? Quote
MACReport Posted September 4, 2006 Author Report Posted September 4, 2006 I love the way this message board automatically converts any reference to you know who to Can't State. Cracks me up everytime I see it. Quote
MACReport Posted September 4, 2006 Author Report Posted September 4, 2006 FYI -The MAC just announced their official POTW and note that Getsy was not nominated and most of those we mentioned we were nominated, so I think MAC Report Online did a pretty solid job this week.http://mac-sports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_...0&ATCLID=591702 Quote

The Akron defense held PSU to 282 total yards. The 76 net rushing yards on 27 attempts included one 42 yard run and one 19 yard run. That leaves 15 yards on 25 attempts. Obviously no one should merit a mention because Akron used smoke and mirrors to stop the PSU running game. You've made your case and I can see you've done your homework. You are spot on. Well done! Cracks me up everytime I see it.I love the way the MAC report determines they have done a good job when they are criticized. Cracks me up to see it! If you think you're doing a good job, there is clearly no need for you to defend it on you know who's board. Because you know who doesn't care what you think. Report what you want and be done with it. and note that Getsy was not nominated and most of those we mentioned we were nominatedI'm not even sure what this defense means. We do the nominating and therefore we are right? We nominate and then pick some of them? No need to respond to the questions. I'm sure you're right! Quote

Let me see if I can help you here:WE do not nominate ANYBODY for the official MAC awards. WE have nothing to do with it. The schools themselves submit the nominees. Obviously UA did not feel Getsy merited mention either. Hence, my statement, that our choices and nominees were clearly in line with the official recognition as well as we made our selections before the official awards.I was clearly referring to the MAC official awards in the nominees list submitted to the conference, not our very unofficial awards. You guys need to chill. There was no bigger supporter of UA than us at the end of last season. We were one of the few out of town media outlets to even travel to Akron for your game against Can't on Thanksgiving morning and we picked UA to finish first this season. We gave our 2005 Special Teams MVP Award to Domenik Hixon at the Motor City Bowl luncheon and he deserved it far more than any kicker did last season. My point here is we have given plenty of team and individual recognition to the Zips, and deservedly so.The Zips played valiantly against a good PSU team but no individual performances stood out, which is neither a bad thing nor an indictment of anybody's performance. Zips fan Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 I love MAC Report Online! I think they give the most insightful MAC information. They do radio shows and recap every team within the conference. They give great information on the upcoming games. I dislike the Beacon, like alot people, because they don't cover the Zips. MRO will have a preview and recap of every MAC game. MRO does a radio show that gives our conference more exposure than our local paper. I look forward to the links and read what they have to say. They did not nominate a Zip player this week-ok. If it becomes a trend, when we have deserving players then complain. Quote
UADavid Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 and most of those we mentioned we were nominatedYou might want to proof your comments before hitting the add reply button. This makes no sense. You guys need to chill. We look at what the mac report wants to say about the games played and react to it. It's not up to you to tell us what to think or do. My opinion of Akron's performance is one that the offense struggled and also stopped themselves. I'm not upset that Luke wasn't on the list. I never said anything about it. The problem I have with the report is not mentioning any performance on the defensive side of the ball. The defense was outstanding with the exception of a couple plays. I believe Garrett Wolfe was hands down the best player on offense. What impact on offense did the two K-ent St. players have in a 0 offensive scoring explosion? Comment: Player of the week does not always come down to which player put up the biggest numbers but also which player had a significant impact for his team. What impact are you referring to with regard to the two k-ent players. When you go to the defensive side, you can make a case for the two K-ent players keeping the score down to only 44-0. They had an awful lot of tackles. You seem a bit sensitive here. I hope the mac report continues to post and cover the mac since other outlets fail miserably. I like to see what others think too, but that doesn't mean i can't comment on it. Does it??? Quote
