JP Morgan Posted September 9, 2006 Report Posted September 9, 2006 My brother was at the game and spoke with some players and coaches after the game. Apparantly the place kicker threw his back out either before or during the game. It explains his kicking woes........and made the final call to go for the touchdown the only real option! Quote
Zipsrifle Posted September 9, 2006 Report Posted September 9, 2006 Yea, with the miss early in the game, knowing he was hurt, it wasn't an option. Personally, I would have gone for 3 if I knew Domonkos wasn't hurt. But, they don't pay me the money to coach so what I think doesn't matter. HUGE confidence boost for the team! Quote
zipsbandman Posted September 9, 2006 Report Posted September 9, 2006 I absolutely would have gone for the win at the one yard line. There is no way we win in overtime on the road with a questionable kicking game. I probably would have still said that if we did not punch it in. Good move by coaching staff. Quote
JRBuchtel Posted September 9, 2006 Report Posted September 9, 2006 You go for the win on the road, and for the tie at home...it was the right call regardless of kicker's status. Quote
Buckzip Posted September 9, 2006 Report Posted September 9, 2006 Even if we had an All American kicker, which we don't, that is the right call. Quote
GoZips88 Posted September 9, 2006 Report Posted September 9, 2006 ABSOLUTELY the right call on the road against that kind of opponent. Get the checkbook out Mack Rhoades - we need to keep this guy (JD). Way to go Akron! Quote
Big Zip Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 Does this mean Igor gets a chance next week? At the golf outing this summer one of the coaches talked about how he was kicking them from 65. Quote
