gozips311 Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 Even though we lost the game yesterday, I have to give the defense a lot of credit for playing a good game and keeping us in it. They only gave up 17 points and held their own when the offense was going 3 and out a lot. Once again the opponents running game was pretty much obsolete, which always helps you stay in the game because they clock doesn't run as much. The offense going 2 for 6 in the red zone is just not acceptable. If we make 2 field goals we win the game. Also, the INT return killed us; it was a 14 point swing. I'm a little dissapointed, but the team has been competetive this year in all 3 games and when (not if) the offense comes around combined with the defensive play the season is still going to be very successful. Buckzip Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 Agreed. The defense looks good. it's the offense that is struggling. I don't think anyone expected that. Quote
RACER Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 i will give jd credit for building a very good defense. they only gave 17 and gave the offense plenty of chances to win the game. Quote
UA Fan Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 Central Michigan Coach Brian Kelly“...... and then being able to run the football in the last few minutes when they were expecting us to run it was important as well. We were able to chew up a lot of clock and shrink the football game."On the last scoring drive for the FG:“We ran it even though they loaded the box on us, and if we were going to throw it, it was going to be high percentage plays.” Quote
