GoZips Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 Like most Zippy fans I have been following the trials and tribulation of the Pig Ten's Ohio State Suckeyes men's basketball trials and tribulations with a gleeful bias. That is, just love seeing them squirm in the national spotlight. Well, folks, its going to get a whole lot more interesting. The Suckeyes have hired Xavier head coach Thad Matta. On the surface Matta seems like an ideal candidate. He built lowly Butler into a formidable program prior to jumping to the job vacated by Skip Prosser at Xavier. Matta has continued his own and Xavier's success on the court. Now he moves on to the lofty (and greatly over paid) position of men's head coach at thee Ohio State University. Well, the Cincinnati Enquirer is going to be a most delightful resource in the coming months. Today there is a news article on the job change. AND, that Matta is contracted at Xavier through 2013. Going to be one EXPENSIVE buy out. A name from the past caught my eye in the article. I hope you are all buckled in your seats for this one. The Athletic Director at Xavier is NOT Mike Bobinski ... its Dawn (empty suit, queen bee) Rogers. Remember her? She was a worthless AD in training in Zippyland some years ago. Scum floats. It always rises to the highest level given the right medium. Here is at least two or three excellent examples of the Peter Principle at work. Enjoy this: Peter's Principle Quote
Guest Guest_Z.I.P. Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 Ahhhh, Dawn Rogers...Brings back memories of my youth. Weekends at China Beach. Yes, Dawn was a member -- Den Mother to be exact -- of the first UA entourage to make the trip to the Paradise of the Pacific, circa 1990. In fact, as I recall, she was responsible for dealing with that great historic disaster known as The Case of the Mystery of Zippy's Missing Head. Here's the announcement of Ms Rogers rise to Queen of the Musketeers (Who played that role in the movies?): <athletics.xu.edu/weekly_notes/read_news.cfm?news_id=2015> You know what stunned me in this piece? Xavier sponsors only 15 sports -- two less than the UA. Quote
zipboy Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 Don't you need 16 to be Div 1 in football as well? Bobinski got bumped up to a higher job about 3-4 months ago and Rogers got elevated to AD. Does Dan Hipsher become an assistant at Xavier? Quote
I_Miss_You_Trey_71603 Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 Just out of curiosity if someone was going to transfer to another school to play basketball shouldn't that player play in the summer league or something for the school they are considering? Quote
