Valpo Zip
I am planning to drive there with another friend, it is only 2 hours, we should have a nice crowd. Last week, Although oxford is like 4 hours away from Akron, there was around a thousand redHAWKS in the RB... we should beat that next saturday. ZachTheZip
I would go to Toledo over Oxford any day of the week. Unfortunately I work Saturday and won't be able to leave for the game in time.
you am i
realistically, the drive from akron to the u. toledo campus is 3 hours.
Ballingirl
Drove there all but 1 weekend last spring....it take 2:15 hrs. If you are a driver like me, you can make it in 1:45. If you are a grandpa, it still won't take you more than 2:30.
you am i
directions: get off the turnpike at exit 64; take I-75 north for 10 miles or so; take the exit for 475 west (marked as the exit for "maumee and ann arbor"); go west on 475 maybe 3 miles to the exit for secor rd; then left on secor about 2 miles to the ut campus. the glass bowl is pretty much in the middle of the campus.don't get off the turnpike exit to I-280 (exit 71, i think), because I-280 is closed when you get to toledo and you will be completely screwed.three hours probably is a little long for a non-stop trip. two hours and 30-45 minutes is more like it (campus to campus, that is). ballingirl, if you do that trip in 1 hour 45 minutes, you are one crazy driver. since we are talking about around 140 miles, some of it in the city, you do the math to figure out how fast you'd have to drive to do that. Ballingirl
There isn't that much of the driving in the city. And there's an easy way to find the glass bowl if you don't know the area. (The stadium is kind of hard to find from Secor if you don't know the campus.) Take the turnpike to I-75 exit, like "you am I" said. Except stay on 75. Get off Bancroft St. Veer to the right off the exit onto Bancroft St. About 1 or 2 miles down, you will come to a light, University Hills Blvd. Tiurn left. This takes you into the heart of UT campus, and the glass bowl is past the 1st 2 parking lots on the left. You can't miss it. There are also 2 parking lots right next to the stadium. And I am defending my driving. I never went faster then 75 on the turnpike (most of the time not going over 70), and I never sped on I-75. After driving the route so many times, you learn the quickest way to get to your destination. You are only off the freeways for a maximum of 2 miles. Drew
I will be there, along with most of the family, and hear that a few buddies are headed up as well. The older brother graduated from there and sister is currently attending, as they have experience with the campus we will be tailgating in the Engineering building lot, a short walk from the glass bowl, the building should be unlocked meaning indoor restrooms, feel free to stop by, hope to see a bunch of us there.
