Maybe they can afford to lose to Akron, and still win the East, thanks to our friends in Portage County. Miami game at Oxford though is rivalry game -- Hippies vs Yuppies.Don't tell that to JD and the kids though -- we need a win -- and seven victories to ensure a bowl game. Remember, unlike Akron and Can't, OU does not sit in pro market and we are the only game in town for Athens and the surrounding counties. Our smallest crowd this year is still over 15,000. Akron having an off campus stadium really henders student support and it is great that UA is looking at building an on-campus stadium. Also OU is very much a residential campus so 90% of our students can walk to the stadium. A fews years ago OU hosted Akron in August without the student on a thrusday night. In this sleepy little college town of 15,000 resident, over 20,000 fans showed that night. The game was televised so maybe some of you watched it. It was FULL. That was without the 20,000 students on campus.I would encourage all you who can to come down. It will be fun. Go to www.youtude.com and do a search for the Ohio University marching band and click . You can watch a video of the half time show against toledo and you will notice the place is packed. It was not homecoming. Just a footbball game in athens.GO CATS!
