Guest PSUNut Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 PSU PLAYBOOK www.psuplaybook.org Probably the best group of fans you will find anywhere. Intelligent, deep discussion on the message boards, and a great place to get questions answered about the game, or any other topic imaginable. Best PSU Chatroom anywhere. NITTANY FOOTBALL www.nittanyfootball.org Smaller group of intelligent fans, good message board, tends to seem like a group of old friends bantering. LION NEWS pennstate.theinsiders.com Great coverage of Penn State recruiting, somewhat standoffish message boards, with less traffic on the free boards than the above. BLUE WHITE ILLUSTRATED bwi.rivals.com Probably the brashest, most childish immature group of fans you will ever meet, but there are occasionally tidbits of wisdom in between the garbage. Quote
Big Zip Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 PSU Playbook may be the worst place to discuss football with Penn State fans. They treated me just like Paterno did the Zips a few years ago putting his starters back in -- in the fourth quarter. I asked them why will PSU be better this year. I got a lot of homer answers and then I pointed out this team is 22-26 over the last year -- how could they honestly be telling me the only team they'll have trouble with will be OSU and Iowa? They booted me. I got back in and asked why I was booted for simply stating a fact and I was banned. F*ck Penn State! How freaking ridiculous -- I took the word of a Lion on where to talk with PSU fans and I was booted for nothing. Quote
I_Miss_You_Trey_71603 Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 They probably booted your because they knew you were right. Quote
Zipsrifle Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 They booted you not only because you're right, but because they are embarrased to be taking S#!* from MAC fans Quote
PSULion Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 1 - He didn't get "booted" 2 - He came in talking smack, he got it back and couldn't take it. 3 - 2002 PSU ended the season at #15 with 4 losses to #1 OSU by 6 pts #8 Iowa by 7 pts in OT #9 Michigan by 3 pts in OT #14 Auburn by 4 pts. Yes the 2003 season was a disaster. There isn't a PSU fan alive that will not tell you that. There were many predicting it. After all they lost 4 in the first round of the draft, and 2 more early in the 2nd. Including all time big ten rusher and heisman finalist Larry Johnson. I know you have a very good QB, UCF did in 2002 as well. I know Akron has a better record in 2003 then PSU. PSU played 10 bowl teams that went 5-5 in the bowls. I they ended the season with having played #4, #6, #8, #18, #19, #20. The lost to #4 by 1 point which resulted from a bounced pass being counted as a reception which gave them the 1-10 they needed to continue the drive to kick a FG. PSU played 3 bad teams (Can't St., Temple, Indiana). Akron played 7 bad teams which included 1 1-AA team, plus another 1-AA team that had a decent record. PSU's SOS was in the top 10 in the country. Akron's SOS was in the bottom half of Div 1 in SOS. The PSU team that played last year was fairly young especially OL, DL, WR,RB. This year our LB squad is very talented but very young with only one of the projected starters who got any starting time last season. We return both QBs with experience, and all indication is Zack Mills will be the starter, he played part of the 2002 and all of the 2003 season recovering from a shoulder injury and tendinitis in his throwing elbow (left). Our defensive line improved as the season went on, our young players on the O did as well, Our freshman starting TB got mono part way through the season, another freshmen, a sophmore and our mobil QB took over as TB by committee. Our WR's stucked onions last year, balls in hands dropped, running the wrong routes. There was one returning starter on that squad, he couldn't seem to take the pressure of being the go to guy. We have speed in the postion, question is will 3-5 of them step up and catch the ball. Our special teams was worse then our wr's they fumbled to close to our own endzone that I don't even want to think about it anymore. Our very good field goal kicker had a case of wide left, wide right for much of the season. Our punter is solid, we did lose our place kicker to the draft. I hope his replacement can be 75% as good. Our coverage teams couldn't stop anything till midway through the season. What to expect this year? Who knows we have a new OCC a former HC at Florida, asst under Switzer at OU, and Cowboys, as well as experience in NFL EU. Also a new WR coach. Our special teams I'm told is Joe Paterno's special project this year. We have the talent, I just hope they have the attitude and heart to improve over last year. Expect to see a lot of sophmores and freshmen on the squad, we aren't deep in the junior and senior classes. Good luck, and hope everyone that comes to HV has a good experience, but goes home disappointed with a loss. Quote
Zipsrifle Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 This sounds to me like a case of the rich guy with the Hummer complaining to the poor tow truck guy bringing him more gas about how much fuel his Hummer uses. It's too bad that PSU has such a hard schedule. I also feel bad for the 100,000 fans who paid $50 a pop at every home game who had to sit there and watch those games...all 7 of them. I also feel bad for the Big 10, I mean 8 of the teams went to a bowl last year. PSU has a schedule like that because they are playing in the Big Ten. Now if PSU wants to come to the MAC, I'm sure we'd take them. Our schedule was so easy because that is our confrence, and we've got to play teams in our confrence and we've got to play some home games. That's why we fired a coach that went 7-5, because he should have won 9. I mean, if we had the #15 hardest schedule in the country last year, there wouldn't have been any home games. The BCS schools ( ) avoid the MAC stadiums at all costs. PSU should easily be able to take Akron year in and year out. You've got lots of fans, and lots of press coverage, lots of money and that all leads to first dibs on the best players and coaches. Hell, the local paper 3 blocks from campus gives more OSU coverage than Akron. So, I don't want to hear about how hard your schedule was, it's your high riding leather covered seat, so sit in it. I've got to hurry up and fill your tank with gas and get to the next job so I can pay the bills. Quote
Big Zip Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 I got booted for merely stating facts -- not talking smack and not being disrespectful. The guy who booted me was cronk -- one guy stuck up for me when I got back to the sight the second time before being booted for good. That guy was James Morrison --- also the only guy who wasn't predicting 9+ wins on the site. Don't tell me what happened it happened to me not you punk. I think Penn State and especially their coach are about as disrespectful as it gets -- I've been to Akron game we've gotten bounced by far less yet still received respect from the fans -- unlike PSU. No. 1 on my christmas list every year is a big victory for the football team -- this year I'd much rather it be the pompous ass Lions instead of the Cavaliers. Quote

Classic I will say though that most of the PSU fans that we met last time around in HV were great and showed a lot of respect. I wouldn't say the same for Joe Pa who was relentless on the score well after the game was decided. Quote
ZipDude Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 Don't ya just love typing crap into a computer and some asshole with zits on his nose starts a flame war cause PSU just has to win! Quote

Big Zip, You say you were banned from the Playbook? By cronk? I think you're mistaken. Cronk's not a moderator or administrator at that board. I believe you must be referring to something that happened at another board. I am a moderator there, and I can't remember you, honestly. However, I'll say to you and all others...you're welcome to post at psuplaybook.org without fear of unreasonable editing and/or banning. feel free to stop on by: http://www.psuplaybook.org Quote
