Zipsrifle Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 OK, The last 2 days the headline picture on ESPN.com/College Football has been on the MAC QB's. Day 2 was Gradkowski in the West and day one was the East division with....Stan Hill?!? I don't subscribe to "IN" and at least Frye is in the group, but with Frye predicted to be the number 1-5 QB's drafted, why the hell did Stan Hill get his picture up? Not to take anything away from Hill's abilities, but my guess is that ESPN made a lot of money when a Marshall Fan was punched on Trs. night 2 years ago and this is a bit of returning the favor. Maybe I'm whining too much but, it just burns me. Hopefully on Nov. 4th this will be corrected. Quote

In all seriousness, Frye does deserve a spot on ESPN's football page. Hopefully on Nov. 4th this will be corrected. And I believe the Marshall/Akron game is Nov. 5th. Why isn't it football season yet? Quote
Zipsrifle Posted August 6, 2004 Author Report Posted August 6, 2004 Well, apparently there is a typo on the old "Frye for Heisman" background that UA provided for download. A quick double check shows that it is indeed on the 5th. Damn, I was looking forward to a really short work week too! Quote
Kangaroo Craig Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 Gradkowski has proven that he may be on par with Frye. I would say that Stan Hill is still probably a step below those two. Unfortunately for Frye, Akron is not the perennial powerhouse that Toledo and Marshall are so Frye's accomplishments sometimes go unnoticed. If the Zips can come out of the gate say 4-0 or 3-1, and at least one victory over PSU or VA, then he will start to get some national praise. If the Zips win the MAC this year and he passes for over 3500 yards again, then Frye almost certainly becomes a top 10, maybe even a top 5 draft choice next year. He is a first rounder if he just gets the yardage. Considering the national bias against the MAC, he could wind up being one of the greatest college quarterbacks of all time and not even get a single vote in the Heisman race. Don't be surprised if the Heisman trophy winner this year gets drafted below Frye. The NFL doesn't use bias when making draft picks. They can't afford to. To me the Heisman is sometimes a joke because many times the best player doesn't win. Remember Steve McNair of Alcorn State? How about Jerry Rice from Mississippi Valley State? Who won the Heisman when those two were Seniors? Quote

But he was from Michigan so that's OK P.S. I love using those quote boxes, don't I? Quote
