Guest Guest Posted August 8, 2004 Report Posted August 8, 2004 OUCH! I just bumped my head when I fell out of my seat and onto the the floor after reading "Frye, Akron's quarterback, was surrounded by reporters from the Akron Beacon-Journal, the Columbus Dispatch and even USA Today." I guess that the Dispatch reporters said they heard about this great MAC QB and the Reakin Urinal reporters. Quote
Guest rooboy Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 How bout the fact that the local paper... you know, the one where the sports reporter can walk across the street and be on campus... "surrounded" Charlie Frye... Anybody else humored by the fact they had to drive to Detroit to surround him??? BJ reporter trying to keep up with the big boys at Columbus State News... Here's how it went: BJ reporter walks into interview area with Columbus Dispatch reporter... They're talking about "real football." Big Ten OSU... how far a drive from Detroit to Ann Arbor etc. Dispatch reporter says something like... "Hey, isn't that guy over there Charlie Frye? The quarterback of the Akron Zips... Bet there's alot of excitement in Akron about this year's Zips squad, huh?" BJ reporter replies "Charlie Batch? Where?" Dispatch reporter says "I've got to talk to him... OSU fans always like stories about the smaller schools like Akron. I hope no one sees me here." BJ reporter... "Mount Union has a great program. Ashland is looking good too." BJ reporter: "Hey, where you going? " Dispatch Reporter: "To interview Charlie Frye. It's not often you get to cover a great story like this." BJ reporter (to himself): Guess I better go wtih you... but I'm still going to write about Ashland tomorrow.... Quote
