ugh, FAU. Who the hell would want to go there? They are always one of the worst teams in the country.
First of all, FAU's football program is only 6 years old. They are not "always one of the worst teams in the countryl" FAU got into the D1AA semi finals in the programs 3rd year. Ended the season 11-3. The next year they had a record of 9-3 and defeated a few D1A teams. Their first year of D1A football they went 2-9. The Second year of D1A, in 2006, they went 5-7, same as Akron. Four of their seven losses were against Clemson, Oklahoma State, University of South Carolina and Kansas State. They did this with a team of mostly sophmores. They lost about 3 starters to graduation this year so next year will be a good one.Why ould anyone want to go to FAU instead of Akron? Are you joking? Have you ever been to Boca Raton, FL. The campus is a mile from the beach. It is warm all year round. The lady students that attend FAU are gorgeous. The head football coach is Howard Schnellenberger. He is the one that revived the University of Miami program and lead them to their FIRST national championship. He revived the Louisville program to what it is today. He was an assistant coach on the undefeated Miami Dolphins team and he was an assistant under Bear Bryant at Alabama. FAU has several nationaly ranked academic programs and is growing in the area of bio research. It has 7 campuses and possibly 8 soon. The main campus is 850 acres. 26,000+ students. I've never been to Akron but if it is anything like Cleveland or Youngstown, well all I can say is, welcome to FAU Jarvis Givens. I hope you enjoy your time there.

I have four things to say. 1. FAU is in the sunbelt. The sunbelt.2. I think its cute how you spend even a min. on a teams website that you care nothing about, and how you prolly won't check this at all again. Just to say FAU has pretty girls and a coach that coached when my dad was in pampers.3. FAU is in the sunbelt, and florida will hang easily half a hundred on you guys.4. Your mascot is an owl.

I hung around reading other posts.Well here is what I have to say.Your mascot is a Kangaroo? What the f*&%Owls used to live in large numbers on the FAU campus. Thats how they got to be the mascot. With the rapid growth of the campus, most have left. How many points do you think UF will score on Akron? 75+It doesn't matter what age Schnellenberger is. He wins.Akron is in the MAC. Looking at Sportsline poll, I see more MAC teams on the bottom than I see Sunbelt. You need spell check. This probably will be the last time I visit this board. I read a post on the FAU board about this post.

Are you kidding me? We have nothing to do with FAU and you have nothing to do with us, yet you are going to argue with us about what? I know absolutely nothing about your school and you probably don't have a clue about us either. You got a good kid. Big deal. That kind of stuff happens all the time. We've signed some guys who had BCS offers. You win some you lose some. These kids change their mind all the time. Who the hell even cared to dig up an Akron message board by the way? I don't know it's just funny.

hey people i was just reading bout that wayne jones guy that people are saying should be jd #1 priority... and it looks as if he will sign with either cincy or pitt. cincy gave him an offer 3 days ago an he sadi that he will take a visit there before signing day to check things out then make his choice. looks like akron will be moving some of them extra linebackers down to DT like they tried to do Bryan Howe before he got pissed about being jacked around and transfered (and ended up having a great season for walsh....1st team all league)

Walsh?? Do you mean college or High School?:lol:
yea, howe went from starting for Akron, back to playing HS..... whata dumby. Howe wasent one of "brookharts guys" so they kept giving him BS until he finally got smart an said it isnt worth wasting his time (and eligibility) trying to please the coaches here at akron, when they are just going to keep screwin him over. He started the spring out at 1st team middle linebacker..... then out of the blue for no reason he was bumped to 2nd string behind Mark Groza, the same Mark Groza who couldnt start the last 4 years while at Akron cuz he wasent good enough....... im glad Howe made the decision to leave, it was for the best of both him and akron.

What a load of crap!!!! Howe left because he was a prima donna. He couldn't stay healthy and he was a freaking crybaby. He had the talent to play at Akron , but he lacked the heart. Did you forget that he quit the team in '05 , too? Bumped to second string for no reason? Are you kidding me? Did you ever even watch Groza play? He gave everything he had on every play! Howe should be a star at Walsh, for crying out loud! He coulda been all MAC if he'd have wanted it! :wall:

Howe left because he was smart. He wouldnt have gotten a fair chance at Akron. Seriously. why would they even talk about moving him inside to DT when he was only 6ft and 240 lbs. No i didnt forget that he left the team in 05, but i also know it was for the same reason that he ended up leaving for. Groza may have given everything on each play, but so did Howe when he was given the chance. Do you play for Akron and do u know everything that went on on the inside (not in public's eye)? And to answer your question... yes i did watch groza play... ive watched him all the way from when he played at manchester, cuz he played on my cousins team. I was lucky enough to actually play on Howe's HS team and i know that if anything is questioned, it shouldnt be his heart. He is a much better football player then Groza! When he did have the broken collarbone, he wanted to still play... it was the physican who told him he couldnt.

I think the FAU fan missed what the point was. Why would he choose them football wise, not intagibles wise. Going by that, the kid made his decision based on the weather and pretty girls. If that was truly a deciding factor then Hawaii should be number 1 in every sport! From the description, they sound much like we were when making the jump for 1-AA; loading up on bigger programs and getting killed (FAU was outscored 192-20 in 2006 by the "big boys"), and bringing in a name coach whose better days may be behind him (according to their website, Schnellenberger was out of coaching for four years prior to taking over). In regards to "he just wins", he has a career winning percentage of .544 which is boosted by a .719 at Miami. He has losing records at 2 of the other 3 schools, and 5-5-1 at the other. In regards to the conferences, I'll take the MAC anyday. For what its worth, the Sunbelt was 1-3 vs the MAC this year, with their only win coming against Eastern. Plus, the MAC does have a little more history, especially bowl wise. Admittedly, neither conference had a stellar power rating this year, but we do have 4 more teams, which always leads to a few really bad programs killing the rating. Take out just Eastern and Buffalo and we jump even higher above them that we already are.
