Scout lists Toledo 5th in the MAC in that, but in their national rankings Toledo is the 3rd highest MAC school.Gotta love the consistency there.

Im starting to think maybe we shouldnt even worry bout the rankings from scout, rivals, and all these other sites. Guess we should just wait and see how this recruiting class does on the field.

Needs repeating. Ranking recruits is fraudulent exercise.That article above is a good read. There is no way to know how good any of these kids are until later.We just have to trust JD and his recruiting staff to know what they are doing and so far you can't argue with his results. The only thing recruiting services do is drum up publicity for students they happen to think are good. Recruiting those students will get us publicity, but results are something much harder to masure that what you see on film. We have a good group of kids that have already created team chemistry, which is an intangible no one can coach. I believe that we have some special recruits and I know they will make us all proud to be Zips fans.

This is where I disagree. They, as well as many of us, are confusing two different things here.The rankings are for rating how good a kid is coming into college and their potential.What happens 2-3 years from now is different though.If you are looking to rank how good a prospect is now and what their potential is, then the recruiting services normally do a decent job. But if you are looking for how good a team is going to be in 2-3 years with these recruits, or how good a kid is 2-3 years from now based on how he developed......then you shouldn't care or look at the recruiting services. A lot can happen and a kid might never reach his potential or might even exceed his potential based on the ability of the coaches at the school. But just because a kid never hits his potential does not mean that he was inaccurately pegged as a good recruit when he entered college.

i agree with you uakronkid when u say you believe we have some special recruits. I know alot of people are talking about vince hill and how they cant wait to see, but the person im excited to see for the zips is gary pride of colerain, and bryan williams. I have seen oth of these guys play in hs an their speed is just outrageous. They told williams that he will play RB here at akron, and he is a kid who had the speed to get the corner, or he can run between the tackles and lower his shoulder. He reminds me alot of former Buckeye antonio pittman, an not only cuz they both went to the same HS, but the way he runs mirrors that of pittman. Pride will also be very special. he also has some burning speed.... man i cant wait to see these guys.Will any of this years recruits be playing in the spring game?
