sgm405
There better not be many in-game posts because everyone better be at the JAR tomorrow!Anyways, here's my Game PreviewI'm expecting a fun night in Akron
Bleacher Bum
Akron is a 17.5 point favorite with the O/U set at 132.Ohio is a 2.5 point favorite against the Showers at home.Go Cats then Go Zips!
skip-zip
If this season continues to go the way it has, we'll recover from a mediocre performance on the road to win convincingly at home tonight. I wouldn't be surprised if this is a 30 point blowout. Let's hope tonight is the boost to carry us through a very tough road stretch to end the season. Also (and I hate to say this)....Go Bubba!!!...and the Cats!!!
Zips fan
Before I start rooting for Ohio to beat Can't, lets look at the big picture. The first thing the Zips need is a first round bye at the Q. If Can't wins today, it almost assures the Zips a bye in the first round. If Ohio wins, the Zips will have a two game lead over Ohio which is not completely safe. As it stands, I think I would rather the Zips and Can't both go undefeated until our match-up. I would like to win the East by beating them at their place.
skip-zip
Zips fan....you bring up a very good point.Which begs the question.....would we rather assure ourselves of no worse than the #4 spot, and a first round bye? Or.....keep ourselves in contention for the #1 seed, and a MAC East title? That's pretty much the options when you look at a Can't victory today as opposed to an Ohio victory. skip-zip
Here's one more scenario.....Can't losses to Ohio today, and they are in serious danger of not winning 20 games. This would signal the end of their dominance in the MAC East, and possibly hurt their recruiting, and start a battle for future control of the MAC East. Valpo Zip
Forgive my negative attitude but the only reason i am excited for this game is that it is senior night...Other than that, i am feeling that we will win it but so what ? we can win all the home games we play, if we don't win on the road, we won't go anywhere. FearTheRoo
Well, we have a potentially difficult road game on Monday against Duquesne. Buffalo isn't a roll over and die team either. Oh, and there's this POS team down the road in Can't coming soon. We better figure out how to win on the road soon. I doubt they will bring every round of the NCAA Tourney and the MAC Tourney to the JAR.
skip-zip
FearTheRoo....you couldn't be more right. We only have 7 road wins all year, and besides Oral Roberts, I wouldn't classify any of them as "good wins".BinghamtonOral RobertsNiagaraYoungstown StateBowling GreenNorthern IllinoisEastern MichiganNot an impressive list. Bleacher Bum
Can't won 73-71. Looks they'll be in first place for about 4 hours. GO ZIPS!
originalrowdy
Romeo and Dru will step it up big tonight in their last game at the JAR. BG has nothing to play for because they know they're done in the first round. Expect a large crowd if not for the last home game then for our seniors. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the makings of a blowout...and the start of going undefeated the rest of the year! Akron: 75BGSU:
Quickzips
Can't won 73-71. Looks they'll be in first place for about 4 hours. GO ZIPS! Other side of that is we win tonight and we lock up a bye for the tournament.
zipsbandman
Can't won 73-71. Looks they'll be in first place for about 4 hours. GO ZIPS!Can't continues to scare me! Man, I don't know if I can stomach losing to them in the semi's. Christian is an unbelievable coach. :(But on a satisfying note....Bubba Glad he ended up on one heck of a team. Sounds like he's making such an impact.
Zips fan
5:00 min in and BG is keeping it close thanks to 3 pointers. I really hope the Zips can bury BG in the first half and prevent this from becoming a game.
Zips fan
Congrats to Dru Joyce on becoming the all-time assist leader for Akron!!!
Zips fan
Well, the Zips are winning at the half. French is saying the refs are doing a bad job and it seems the Zips are getting fouled on every shot. Twenty-seven free throw attempts in the first half-at some point, we will start hitting these shots. I feel the Zips are capable of running away with this in the second half. Let's go Zips!! Zips fan
Great game for Romeo (27 points so far). I feel like we are due for a big run here. Let's Go Zips!!
Zips fan
I am surprised that BG does not have more people foul out. They have 26 fouls so far.

JP Morgan
Want to know how to beat the Zips? Foul 'em! This game was much closer than it should have been. The next three practices better focus on free throw shooting.
timsum1283
93-87 Zips win. Romeo had 37 and 11 rebounds.
Zips fan
Wow, that was alot of fouls! I can't believe their was 54 free throw attempts in a college game. Congrats on the win! Lets keep it going against Duquesne!

ZachTheZip
Just got back. A few meaningless thoughts. I'll probably have more in the actual post-game thread.Romeo had the best night of his life, and we still only won by 6 points. Scary.HUGE crowd, but the north side of the AK-Rowdies were sitting down for 90% of the game. WTF? Jochich, er Dachich, or whatever his name is; when he tore his jacket off, that was the BEST moment I have ever seen in the JAR. Thanks refs. Also, when Nate Miller's mom gave the Rowdies the finger... sweet. So many free throws. So little good free throws. We should have had at least 110 points. Why weren't the AK-Rowdies allowed to storm the court? I think we are one of only a few schools who don't allow it. Dru got the all-time assist record, with at least four games left. Good job!
