GoZips88
PERFECT! My nausea and depression will be almost 24 hours old! Talk about a punch in the gut last night ... Life definitely isn't always fair and we Akron fans have the scars to prove it. Love my Zips and ALWAYS will ... as hard as that is at times.GO ZIPS! Zips fan
If an NCAA bubble team misses the NIT something is wrong. I have no doubt we will receive a bid. Here is a link on the NIT bubble. I feel like were are just missing on the NCAA tournament but should be a 1 or 2 seed for the NIT. This thing has us listed as a 7 http://tcaa.puretecmo.com/nit06.html
liljc
I do not care when the NIT selection show is. I still say we are NCAA bound. 26 wins has always been enough in the past.
FearTheRoo
One of the guys on ESPN called Akron the next Air Force. I heard it from the other room, so I wasn't sure who made the comment. Either way, even if a miracle happens, another miracle must happen when we face a buzzsaw highly-ranked team.
Quickzips
Not saying that I really think we have that much of a chance at an at-large, but does anyone know when the brackets are officially announced? I've been looking all over and I can't find anything. Only that the NIT brackets are announced tonight at 9.Nevermind, just found it. Apparently its 6pm on CBS. UAZips
I saw the guy on ESPN too. It was during their "Bold Predictions" segment. He was being totally serious though, so we'll see...
skip-zip
I think the fact that they are listing us as a projected #7 seed in the NIT answers one question for all of us, once and for all. We're going to miss the NCAA tournament by a good 20-30 spots. Zipgrad1990
I think the fact that they are listing us as a projected #7 seed in the NIT answers one question for all of us, once and for all. We're going to miss the NCAA tournament by a good 20-30 spots. They have us listed as a #6 seed now. I think we should be more like a #3 or #4 seed though.I think we will miss the NCAA tournament by 10-15 spots. We won't ever know that though as they don't tell you the order of the teams left out.A couple of bad things about the NIT:Early round games are played on campus sites (good for high seeds, bad for lower seeds).Games are not on television except for the final 4.Everyone always says the NIT winner is only the 66th best team in the country. BULL! That assumes that the NCAA tournament is composed of the best 65 teams which we know that isn't true. Why don't they just get rid of the NIT and expand the NCAA tournament by 32 more teams? Quickzips
Well congrats to Miami. 14 seed, worst record in their region and playing a tough Oregon team.
zippyrifle32
HAHAHAHA!!! if they do play oregon, i want to see the ducks stomp them. sorry but i have more allegiances to a school that a bunch of my friends go to than some shitty mac team that isn't that good. QUACK!

QUACK! The only team I root for in this conference is Akron. Check out the other boards. They are really kicking us while we are down. ZachTheZip
Look for us to get the shaft when they announce the seeds. We should get at least 1 home game, but it is not very likely. Man, do we need to win this thing, though. Getting an invite to the pre-season NIT would be the perfect thing to boost our schedule.Go Zips! FearTheRoo
Akron was the lead story on the ESPN2 bracketology show. They said "were it not for a timing error, they would be gonig to the NCAA."
mrelegazna
Well, that was nice, Akron was the very, very first team they mentioned, with props. I was a little afraid we wouldn't get in at all when I saw how many high major teams on the "bubble" of that link above.
74ZIP
how about the ZIPS and Kansas State in the NIT...Huggy Bear did a decent job this year no matter what we think aboyt him...they probably should have made it..

meatwad
I'm baffled. We were the lead story of the selection show? What the hell happened?
Akronite
This is the unkindest cut of all. I thought the guy was saying that Akron should have gotten into the NCAA -- what possible explanation is there for the Zips not getting into the NIT??? KNCLZip
This is the unkindest cut of all. I thought the guy was saying that Akron should have gotten into the NCAA -- what possible explanation is there for the Zips not getting into the NIT??? They discussed several teams, with UA first, and he said "those teams are all in." What else could that have been intended to mean?Proenza, Rhoades, et al had better be on this not tomorrow morning, but NOW. This is insane. I wonder, would the NCAA have taken us if they knew the NIT would skip us? I bet they just assumed the NIT would take us.We need out of the MAC now. It does us no good being in this conference.
