sgm405
Someoe said this already, but someone please take mental notes and reiterate for those of us outside the Cleveland market. Thanks! They just showed a gut-wrenching clip of the players sitting there waiting for the pairings...looked like someone died
Quickzips
Just about to start. Watching the 11 o'clock news that leads into it and the anchors almost unanimously said we got screwed. Combined with that shot of the team watching for their seeding I think you can pretty well eliminate that we turned down an NIT bid. Never know though. Dan Kadar
That guy didn't even ask anything about the NIT. Pathetic, gutless reporting.
GoZips88
Seems like the interview was done after the NCAA selection but before the NIT. STILL don't know anything!
Quickzips
That guy didn't even ask anything about the NIT. Pathetic, gutless reporting. Pretty much.In my opinion that was as worthless as it comes. And then they cut KD off while he's still talking. Great job there guys. meatwad
Here goes... i'm typing as i watch, so it might not all make sense...Starting off with a segment on OSU. Starts with ANOTHER replay of that freaking lucky shot. Dambrot clip from last night and how we dont get any love. The players are all watching for the invites. Dambrot talking about the publicity that came out of the loss last night. Players look devastated when they found out they wont be going to the NCAAs. Dambrot somewhat upbeat about the fact that they didn't get in. Dambrot live:Says that the RPI was something that hurt us but the conference RPI wasnt good enough. Says no doubt that the MAC as a conference has a stigma and give high majors too many bids this year. "Have to move on and handle adversity." Going back to last night... he says that Akron wins 98 out of 100 under those circumstances. With the bank and the timing error, he says it was pure luck. Reporter says that Akron deserved the NCAA and dambrot of course agreed. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about the lack of NIT bid. Initial thought:Dambrot was insanely upbeat. I don't know if this interview was done before the NIT snuff, but it was weird. A lot of press coverage here though, and the sports reporters both said that Akron is on their way to more national exposure. I freaking hate to say this, but let's *shudder* look forward to next year. We should be the class of the MAC with our recruits and the returning players we have. The last 24+ hours have been a painful time for this program, but there is a bright side. I do feel awful for Rome and Dru... they deserved better, but as Dambrot said last night, "Sometimes life just isn't fair." Damn right. this time got a major shaft. skip-zip
Guys, It looks to me like that interview took place after the NCAA selections were announced, but before the NIT's were announced. Maybe I'm wrong, but they didn't talk about the NCAA at all, which makes me think that was taped before that happened.
KNCLZip
Nothing really new there. KD was really too diplomatic imho.
meatwad
It was DEFINITELY taped. They cut it off mid response from Dambrot. it had to be before the NIT was announced... the reporter asked nothing about it.
skip-zip
meatwad...I heard no mention at all about the NIT in that interview.
Dan Kadar
If that's the case, follow-up then. Get a phone interview, a statement sent over, something.
meatwad
meatwad...I heard no mention at all about the NIT in that interview. Yeah, it was weird... the reporter went on and on about it after the KD interview was over... which is why I believe it was taped between the NCAA field and the NIT field. skip-zip
We may very well have to wait until tomorrow to get his reaction about not getting into the NIT.
timmyboy
Here is an email i sent to the deputy director and the director of basletball for the MAC.When the ball is touched after a missed free throw, isn't the clock supposed to start? If you have watched any TV and noticed, the clock didn't start until the Miami of OH player grabbed the ball and turned to go up court, and NOT when it was first touched like it should have been. Had the clock started at the correct time, when touched they would have never gotten the ball off. The officiating in the MAC this year has been downright horrible and you all should be ashamed to be a part of the MAC staff. You guys need to take a long look at the officials for next year! And instead of having just the officials make the choices in a game that it means so much, as it did last night. Have the coward of a commissioner be there to over look the play and maybe then things wouldn't be so screwed up. I know i will never get a reply to this email, but i just wanted to let you all know how i feel. Now we know why everyone looks at the MAC conference as a joke! skip-zip
And there were people in the background playing basketball. I don't believe that would happen at 11:30 at night. Nor do I believe that the news stations would send someone down there to interview him, nor would he probably want to do an interview, at that time of night. zipsbandman
Did you all notice that they spent more time talking about Akron then OSU, Cavaliers, or the rest of the tournament outlook?

Even if it is small. That means we got screwed big time Where the hell were they the rest of the season? Where was all the lip service to the zips when we demolished OU? Where were they when we took down Austin Peay in the braketbuster? Congrats Channel 5 you did a mildly sufficient job of giving us some credit the last two nights. You wanna know what YOU can do to help avoid this situation happening again. COVER THE ZIPS! ALL SEASON! And no, your 5 second highlight and little score ticker isn't covering the Zips. It's just reinforcing the idea that we are a second rate team that doesn't belong anywhere when you spend 2 full minutes discussing the Buckeyes and how Greg Oden has a sniffle and might not play in the next game and then spend 5 seconds telling us "ohh btw, the Zips won tonight." That isn't coverage, thats a joke.
