akronzips71 Posted March 15, 2007 Report Posted March 15, 2007 So what if the Zips are invited to the pre-season NIT? In other words, they feel bad about how bad they screwed us, and decide to throw us a few crumbs? My vote is that we say NO! We earned a berth this year, they beat us again if we show up to that so they can make money. How about a poll? Quote
w00t Posted March 15, 2007 Report Posted March 15, 2007 Don't cut off your nose to spite your face. If that bone is thrown, take it and get a chance at some high-majors on a neutral court to start off what will be the best year in UA hoops history. Quote
meatwad Posted March 15, 2007 Report Posted March 15, 2007 Oh heck yes we should accept the preseason NIT. It would be dumb not to. the level of play is far superior to whatever tournament we were in this year (UALR and Gardner-webb). Look what the preseason NIT did for Bulter this year. I wouldnt bank on anything though... but i think it would be stupid to turn it down. Quote
Valpo Zip Posted March 15, 2007 Report Posted March 15, 2007 What ? of course you take it. This is a great chance to show every one that we can play the big guys. Quote
timmyboy Posted March 15, 2007 Report Posted March 15, 2007 You got to take it..... what a better way to start the season then with a chance to knock off one of the teams that the NIT committee thought was so much better then us, its a chance to whip their @$$es and show them they made a mistake by not including us in the tourney. UAZips Posted March 15, 2007 Report Posted March 15, 2007 It's the only way high majors are gonna play us, definitely take the invite. Quote
Zippysgotagun Posted March 15, 2007 Report Posted March 15, 2007 One important thing to remember...in order to accept a bid to the preaseason NIT, you have to be offered one. Given how the MAC (specifically, us...) has been slighted recently (or always), I would venture a guess to say that we won't be invited. Call it a hunch. Quote
GoZips Posted March 15, 2007 Report Posted March 15, 2007 I would accept a pre-season NIT bid.Problem is, it would likely be a one 'n done.Notice that thus far, all the home teams (higher seed) have won the games. Thistrend will continue. But, it is a chance to make some noise. There is a reasonable chance that we willget a pre-season bid. ESPN would surely be for it as we usually give them excellentratings.Did anyone watch the NIT game between Michigan and Utah State? I sat by the Utahbench wearing a "THIS IS MY ZIPS SHIRT". Just wondering if anyone caught that.Lots of people at Crisler Arena noticed the shirt and commented to me that we gotscrewed. Most folks up here in Michigan firmly believe that the Zips would destroythe Wolverines. Not getting an NIT bid probably got us far more press than most of the schools thatgot in will garner. Any one hear national talking heads blabbering about Toledo? Quote
skip-zip Posted March 15, 2007 Report Posted March 15, 2007 The Preseason NIT would be a really, really difficult tournament to get into for a school like us. I really liked the idea of the tournament we were in this year. You have an opportunity to play an inferior opponent the first round, and get a win (IF ONLY WE HAD WON), and then you move up to harder opponents in subsequent rounds.Maybe that arrangement will work out better for us next time. UA has gotten amazing amounts of press, and it might even carry over a little bit into next year. I would love to be a NCAA Cinderella next year. Quote
