when i last talked to igor, he said the trainers are working hard to get him ready for the start of the season, but didnt say anything about the spring ball. As for a kicker, if igor cant go. another kid who is going to be a prefered walk on will be here, zach campbell. He is from near by canton mckinley and he has a heck of a leg on him. he really didnt get the exposure that he should have, but its a good thing because he decided to join us. I have seen him kick in both the rubber bowl ( against massillion) and in Dix stadium ( against brunswick) and both times they were long FG's.....and the one against brunswick was very impressive, it was a 40 yarder into the wind an he made it pretty easily. But my biggest question is, Who will be our long snapper and FG snapper since the snapper we have had for the last 4 years, jason gechetti is gone. The Fg dont mean anything if we dont have the snapper to get the ball back to them.

What do u guys think about our special teams? I am really concerned about this area. Who will start as kicker? I believe that Domonkos has a great leg but he is to inconsistent. Will Igor be ready for spring ball? anybody heard anything on him?
Domonokos scares me. Kickers - especially at the collegiate level - can be affected a great deal mentally. Not only did he have a horrible start, but he was benched for a soccer player who ended up doing better than him. That's tough to swallow.Hopefully the kicking game is better this year though...it can be a real killer if you have poor ST.Edit: Good info Timmy...thanks

It's a shame because the I believe that Domonkos is still capable of being the kicker that he was in high school. Prior to the 2006 Penn State game, Domonkos hadn't kicked in a game situation since the Big 33 game in 2002. The long lay-off from football must have affected his confidence... One thing is for certain, Matt Domonkos has a big-time leg. I saw Domonkos play often when he was in high school because my son played for a rival school (in the Johnstown area). He was confident, consistent and a solid D1 talent. He kicked a 58-yard field goal that set the Pennsylvania high school record as a senior. He also kicked two field goals in the Big 33 game and was rated as the best kicker in PA. Let's hope he regains his 2002 form...
