rocketfootball
The US Attorney's office in Detroit has confirmed that they are cancelling the pretrial scheduled for Friday and will be dropping the affadavit complaint against Scooter McDougle. They did however say that the investigation into Scooter will continue and they could seek new charges and/or an indictment in the future.Translation - they didn't have enough evidence to even get a grand jury indictment, not alone a conviction and they need to keep working the case to try and get more evidence...............or they have been and will continue to use Scooter to try and get more evidence on this Gary guy to charge him with something. There's no doubt in my mind that Scooter did at least something wrong here, but there just doesn't seem to be enough evidence and exactly what Scooter did that was wrong is unclear. As I have said before, we probably will never know everything about this incident. The question now is going to be will Scooter ever get charged or indicted? johnnyzip84
Thanks for the update, rocketfootball. This is the kind of situation for which we all need to be fearful. I've often wondered whether the criminal types who initiate these schemes might look at the MAC (or WAC or Sunbelt, etc.) as "special opportunities" in that they might feel as though they can sort of fly under the radar with these schools, so to speak. I suppose as long as Vegas and others have lines on our games, betting irregularites should become obvious to all observers, whether they are operating in the public's best interest or not. timmyboy
Hopefully everything gets straightened out. If he did do somthing that is against the NCAA rules, then deal with him and get it over with. If he didnt do anything that violated any rules, leave him alone and let him get on with his playing career.
rocketfootball
Charges were officially dropped in US District Court yesterday. The US Attorney's office said they need more time to compile the evidence and will likely charge Scooter with something at a later date.Scooter's attorney doesn't know if there will be charges brought forward again, but he is asking the question of why the FBI and US Attorney office charged him and made these claims in the affadavit if they did not have enough evidence to proceed with a trial at this time.
